Fresh off his title fight win over Dominick Cruz at UFC 207, new bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt will coach the latest season of “The Ultimate Fighter” opposite his former teammate and next opponent TJ Dillashaw.
“The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption” will debut with a special two-hour episode on Wednesday, April 19 at 10 p.m. ET on FS1.
The full cast list for “The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption” will be revealed at a later date.
This will be the first time for Garbrandt as a head coach on the show after he assisted his friend Urijah Faber during season 22 when he went up against Conor McGregor on the reality show.
Im convinced TUF is just to get good fighters in on crappy long term contracts. It can't be for ratings, I haven't watched it in years, surely ratings are tiny by now
I wonder if he's going to feud directly with Ludwig as well all things considered. In reality Ludwig didn't just take TJ he also took Benavidez cause he's still training with Ludwig as well. It's possible this could be a heated civil war.
Supposedly, the new owners are outsourcing the show to a third party and slashing the budget for this season. Honestly, I'm okay with this one. I watch occasionally and I'm sure the two will have some heated interactions which hopefully will be fun to watch the like Conor and Faber's were. But I think it'll be a lot more bros because these two actually don't like one another.
Whatever, it makes some sense for the title picture. There is only one immediate contender in TJ. Cruz needs to win another fight and might be on the shelf a little bit from the damage he took in the fight with Cody. This gives Cruz time to win a fight to get back to the title and be ready to face the winner of these two.
Tuf is still as fun as it ever was and is if anything producing better fighters these days.
