Hughes has been looking pretty out of shape in TUF. He's already got his eyes set on finishing his time in the UFC. He's also scatterbrained and getting his ass kicked in TUF. I think all of these in combination are going to cause him to come into this fight without proper focus and preparation.

TUF ended months ago. He's a professional fighter whos been in the game a long long time.

Of all the reasons why Hughes might not win, i dont think a lack of mental disciplin is one of them.

Demian Maia may be the Fred Astaire of jiu-jitsu, but it’s too bad Silva is the Gene Kelly of kicking everyone’s ass.

TUF, Deeeohhhh I haven't seen the latest episode, was gonna watch replay tomorrow, but I think I can guess whose team wins the next fight . Same thing happens to me with F1 all the time, gotta tune out all news and internet between the race and when I have time to watch it.

Anyway sounds like 90% or so think Matt Hughes will probably beat Matt Serra, and I'm in that camp too. BUT I also agree with the few that Serra is strong and not unskilled, so this is no cake walk for Hughes, it'll be a good fight but in the end I gotta go with the ex-champ's wrestling and GNP (I don't see him subbing Serra) over the new champ. It might even go the distance and be a decision though I hope not cause that's not as fun. But it's probably for farmer Hughes.

See you all on the other side of UFC 77, am tuning out starting tomorrow til I get to watch UFC 77, late Sunday night I hope. Let's go Rich! (Gotta love a comeback and it would make for a great trilogy.)

An understandable point of view, but I would argue that Hughes was in a similar situation against GSP. Lacking focus and not in peak physical condition. Maybe he'll turn it around, but I see Hughes as feeling burnt out at this point.

i say Hughes wins this one by TKO 2nd round within 3mins of that round haha
I just don’t agree and GSP doesn’t agree with you either he stated from fight A to fight B he felt matt improved a lot even though he KO'd him. Hughes has improved his striking but when your fighting a A1 striker and your not, Id say that you'll look worse than you really are. I think Hughes has a good enough striking game to keep Serra honest. If he goes in there just trying to head hunt matt Hughes I just don’t see it working out. I think people will be somewhat surprised how well Hughes dose on his feet with Serra even though I think Hughes needs to get this on the ground to win, you never know.
