First I wanna say to all my boys on here, it feels good to be back on here posting. I took a little break from MMA and it felt good. After Shogun AND Chuck lost I was pissed and probably overreacted a little bit. But the hiatus from MMA has gotten me refreshed and Im ready to start talkin fights.

And UFC 77 has a great one. I find Sylvia/Vera fascinating. We FINALLY get to see if Vera is for real and we get to see if Tim can get back to his old form of knocking dudes into next week. I can firmly say I have no idea what to expect in this fight. Im rooting for Vera but I dont know if the size will be too much for him. Vera has very underrated wrestling and that could be a factor if Tim's reach poses problems for Brandon. I think this fight is a total toss up. Complete 50/50. I see it going to the judges and Ill take Vera.

As for the Main Event. I just dont see how Franklin wins this fight. Silva is better in every aspect of MMA. Rich's only chance is if he can outwrestle Silva get some ground and pound in. Other than that Silva will beat Rich everywhere. BUT I have been wrong before and that is why I will watch this fight and be on the edge of my seat. Ill take Silva via TKO in the 2nd. Seems like a pretty safe bet.

Well id like to say WELCOME BACK, JDun...your a valid poster on this site.

And yeah, Sylvia Vs Vera definetly intrigues me more than Franklin Vs Silva for 2 reasons.

1) Sylvia Vs Vera is definetly a close fight...I got Sylvia winnin, but wont be suprised if Vera uses his speed to chop the big man down for 3 rounds. Silva Vs Franklin on the other hand I see as another victory for Silva, Franklin needs to come in wit a near perfect gameplan to win this fight.

2) Sylvia Vs Vera also will decide who gets to fight for the vacant HW title bout. Silva beating Franklin will leave the MW division in trouble, especially wit Hendo not wanting to fight at 185...and Okami Vs J-Mac isnt even gonna be televised, which is apparently for the #1 contender spot.

Of course Rich has a chance, hes a great fighter. But Silva blew him out of the Octogon. I dunno if Rich can ever recover from that.
i guess we'll know come this weekend.....but im laying it on the line with this one....never doubt a man that has his back up against the wall

Good to have u back Jdun Honestly I agree with your pick of the Silva vs Franklin fight 100% While anything can happen in a fight I would expect Anderson to win.

Vera vs Sylvia is IMO a win for Sylvia. The guy is So Big and honestly if he comes ready to fight he will KO Sylvia in the 2nd round Vera has never faced anyone with power close to Sylvia's.

that all depends

if silva wins then i could see it being a contender fight....if not i just dont see the point of having jmac or okami fighting ace again.....at least not for a while

My post was under the assumption that Silva wins, IF Franklin wins then obviously they have Silva vs Franklin III...

If Silva wins then the next obvious choice for a mtchup would be Silva Vs Winner of Okami/J-Mac.

It could be a possibility, they did it with Sylvia and Arlovski. If Franklin did happen to win who would there be for him to face? :dunno:

Franklin vs. Silva 3 would be a good choice, although I'm picking Silva to win this fight anyways so I don't think that will happen.

This Sylvia vs. Vera fight will answer alot of questions. Whos the number one contender? Can Sylvia go back to his old ways? Is Vera a serious contender or is he all hype?

I'm picking Sylvia to win.

Oh yeah, welcome back Jdun. :thumb02:

thats what is so great about this fight... i have NO ! idea ho to pick
You're right, I think Sylvia will take it but I wouldn't be surprised if Vera got the win. It looks pretty close.

Although last time I said that I picked Guillard to beat Stevenson but said i could see Stevenson winning too, then Stevenson submitted him in 27 seconds. :dunno:

I am gonna play devil advocate's, look at my sig., Ace has a very underrated ground game, punching power, and was working with Dorian Gray (yes the Dorian Gray from TUF 6) on mauy thai and the mauy clinch so he might have a way to beat it-bear in mind on a recent episode of TUF Dorian said he had done mauy thai for ten years I don't know his record but ten years he has to know something. The ground game is underrated, a lot people think of Rich and think of slugfests but he does of submission victories and a decent ground game/defense. His biggest problem is his punching, its not as crisp, or straight as Silva's but his loopy punches have power. This could all add up to problems for Silva.

More later...like Sylvia/Vera.

I'm definitely more interested in Sylvia vs Vera, because it's much more important. Sure, Franklin vs Silva is a title fight, but Vera vs Sylvia will pretty much determine the next number 1 contender for the HW title.

Franklin didn't even put up a fight in their first one, it was just Silva killing him slowly. Seriously, if Franklin wins, then we'll get Franklin vs Silva 3 because the MW division sucks massive nonks. In my opinion, Silva's already beaten the one guy who had a great chance in beating him, and that was Nate Marquardt.

Big Tim vs Vera interests me a lot, because this will be a huge test for Vera. Is he ready? Will he drop down? Will Tim be awesome? Yeah, this could rule.
