Three fighters pop for marijuana at UFC Fight Night 104

Quote:
According to a recent report by MMA Fighting, three fighters have failed an in-competition drug test at UFC Fight Night 104 this past February after testing positive for marijuana. Niko Price, Curtis Blaydes and Abel Trujillo are the culprits, and all three have been suspended 90 days and fined $1,000 by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).

As a result of the failed drug test, Price and Blaydes will have their wins overturned to no contests. Price originally defeated Alex Morono via second-round knockout, while Blaydes battered Adam Milstead’s knee to the tune of a second-round TKO. Trujillo lost to James Vick via third-round submission.

Per United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) spokesman Ryan Madden, none of the fighters will face any sanctions considering their tests came back with less than 150 ng/ml of marijuana metabolites. The amount of cannabis shown in the tests are unknown at this time, but MMA Fighting has reached out to TDLR for that information.

Athletic commissions setting the sport back 10 years, yet again?

Hard work is the only real PED.

Does anyone know if you have to give back your win bonus if a commission overturns it?

I do think the fighters should be able to smoke weed but whatever. With that said I recently quit vaping after along period and feel much better then I did when I was using. I let what started as a great stress reducer turn into a bad habit.

Remember that Texas has often operated differently from the other athletic commissions and as a result probably doesn't enforce long term suspensions. However, also remember that weed is illegal in Texas so they have a perfect right to suspend someone if they want. That is what makes weed such a sticky issue when it comes to people arguing that it shouldn't be a banned substance. In reality it will always be a controlled substance so in some capacity it shouldn't be allowed to come up positive on bans unless it is like an out of competition test.

Thankyfully... 90 days, which ain't shit, Curtis Blaydes is still gonna be the HW champion one day, i think he beats pretenders like Derick Lewis right now.... for example.

Weed may be illegal here but we sure do give out a soft punishment for it...Best of my memory Mayweather didn't want to fight Manny here in Dallas' "Jerryworld" because of our laxed athletic commission. He thought Texas would give Manny a pass on the juice. All hear say of course.

You're always wrong!

Yeah if I remember wasn't it Jessica Eye the one who one who got a Texas only suspension but was able to fight like three months later?
