This is fairly identical to the Brunson fight match up wise except he'll be facing a bigger opponent. I like it. Better than Gastelum.

Would like to see a rematch against Diaz though.

The UFC is desperately looking at a replacement opponent for MMA legend Anderson Silva at UFC 212 after his original opponent, Kelvin Gastelum, was pulled from the pay-per-view after testing positive for marijuana metabolites.

Luke Rockhold and Vitor Belfort were thrown into the mix, but it looks like the UFC has their sights set on No. 8 ranked light heavyweight contender, Ovince Saint Preux, according to a recent report from Brazilian MMA outlet Combate.

The bout is being targeted at a catchweight of 195-pounds, but Silva, the greatest middleweight champion in UFC history, has fought at St-Preux' native division of 205-pounds on several occasions, beating the likes of Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar in non-title fights.

'The Spider' snapped a four-fight losing streak in February, beating middleweight talent Derek Brunson in a controversial decision win.

OSP, 34, sprang back into the winner's column with a submission victory over Marcos Rogério de Lima at UFC Fight Night 108 on Saturday, submitting the Brazilian with a Von Flue choke in the second round.

UFC 212, which features a headlining featherweight title unification bout between Jose Aldo and Max Holloway, is scheduled for June 3 at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Does he really though? Romero is holding out, he's not going to fight Jacare or Belfort, Weidman has been done twice and is on a 3 fight losing streak and they're clearly trying to put Mousasi vs Whittaker on I would assume. So that leaves Rockhold.

I'm happy with the decision to go fight a suitable opponent for him. A win against OSP hardly puts him in line for a title shot. It's just a better match up IMO.

I think at this point he wants entertaining fights. I dunno why Nick hasn't signed on to take the rematch. I definitely did not think he would have faced DC, Brunson, and now OSP. These are some of the strangest match ups if he's looking for his way back to a title shot. Doesn't appear so otherwise he would have taken Luke.

At one point I wanted to see him vs Bones, prolly not so much anymore. Hope he fights Luke though. That's a serious challenge presently. Then finish off his career with a redemption bout against Weidman and then GSP for one last blockbuster.

I wouldn't say it's identical... when Brunson is not running at Whitaker like a mental patient, he is a pretty good fighter... OSP is athletic and deeply deeply flaw, bad striking, bad defense, open for leg kicks, bad stamina...

But... i still give him half a chance at beating old man Silva  which is sad... OSP doesn't seem like a guy who can comfortably drop another 10 lbs though...

Yeah was gonna say, OSP is a fairly big sized LHW, I've not heard how much he weights out of camp but if he was 230 it would not surprise me, makes me wonder if this is real or not.

Well there you have to ask what happens when he can't fight anymore? WME-IMG is only willing to pay someone as long as they are valuable to them. Chuck Liddell and Matt Hughes retirement plans ended because the new ownership didn't see them as essentially viable brand ambassadors so they were let go and the same thing will happen so Silva when his contract ends and he can't fight anymore.

I get what you're saying but what if he destroys OSP and then either fights Diaz in a rematch, Bisbing or a fight with GSP? I mean there's 3 more fights right there and I think he'll be at the end of his 10 fight or whatever the resigned him to. If he wins some of those, I think people will still want to watch him fight.
