DC vs Jon Jones (Jimi Manuwa will replace Jones if he falls out)
Doo Hoi Choi vs Andre Fili - might be good enough as PPV opener but would/should be the Prelim main event
Ricardo Lamas vs Chang Sung Jung - will likely be on the PPV but not really a fight that will deliver
Ajamin Sterling vs Renan Barao - another fight that will likely be on the PPV, but if this were on Fight Pass as the main event you wouldn't bat an eye
And then we get the rest of the card with the UFC records
Sage Northcutt(3-2) vs Claudio Puelles(0-1)
-This should be a Northcutt tuneup then again Puelles is basically the Mexican Northcutt so he could lose. You never know with TUF runnerups what you are going to get.
Josh Burkman(6-10-(1)) vs. Drew Dober(3-4-1)
- Battle of the company guys, little shocked both guys are still employed
Dmitrii Smoliakov(0-2) vs. Adam Wieczorkowski(0-0)
- showcase HW fight
Jarred Brooks(0-0) vs. Eric Shelton (0-1)
- a decent enough prospect fight
Alexandra Albu(0-0) vs. Kailin Curran (1-4)
- I don't know if this is a win for Curran or an opportunity for a new company hotty
I would not be shocked if Lamas doesn't fight very conservatively in that fight and tries to beat KZ with takedowns. This is like the B- version Rodriguez/Edgar
I don't give a crap about Strawweight women's MMA and I suspect neither do most MMA fans, and that was the only championship fight on UFC 212.
DC vs Jones 2 alone is an excellent fight worthy of carrying a modern PPV by itself. The fact that they actually have a top 5 guy in Manuwa as a backup is amazing to me, at the very least we get to see a dominant LHW champ fight a top 5 contender REGARDLESS of injury, how is this a bad thing?
The rest of the main card is lower weight classes that are less exciting for me but at least they're all legit top 10s and top 5s instead of some of the cards that had random no names on the main card.
Not a good card from a stick up for arse "MMA is a sport" perspective...
But yeah, a pretty good card... legit prospects in Pico and Gallagher.... fighters the UFC will be pissed if they don't have in a few years, some fun freak show fights... and 1 fight with actual top ten relevance.
They've got to be putting another headlining fight on this card. I know Dana talks out his ass a lot, but he's seemed pretty serious with the whole, "JBJ is not going to get a main event his first time back" talk.
