He could beat Silva, if they let him in the door at Chute Boxe for a few years. Or if he entirely changes his game plan and went to Team Link for a few years. OR he learned how to break the damn thai clench without getting terrified. All of those are equally as likely.

Seriously though, he should go to Miletich and get Matt to show his ass how to shoot. Oh wait, Matt has his own camp now.

Thanks to NikosCC for the sick sig!

you get the picture.

my point is he needs a little of what each coach is offering. maybe 2 weeks at each stop would get him up to par.
i agree he's got the natural talent, but he needs skill training. he's an obvious pat miletich product. all cardio and strength with a minimal skill set.

or, perhaps he should just drop weight. who knows. he's obviously not ready to give up, but really, where can he go?
No way could Rich make WW, he is a massive MW. I thought he walked around at like 400 pounds or something...

Sometimes the fighter you are is the fighter you will always be and no amount of world class coaching can help your game.

But as for Rich, as of now, he is the basically the best guy at his camp. Being that he is the best guy at his camp he will likely get no better than he already is so maybe he should expand his horizons and train with people that are better than him

Also Rich probably trains at Gurgel's because it so close to home and he feels comfortable there but in this sport sacrifices need to be made in order to be the best

I've been saying that Franklin has needed a new camp for ages, glad others see it the same way.

IDK, If Matt Hume was unable to help him then he is screwed, someone else said its a mental thing and I totally agree. Rewatch the fight between rd1 and 2 hume was telling Rich to turn into Silva when he get the plumb on him and what did rich do? He turned away from Anderson the totally wrong thing. I think Rich is a B level fighter and when dealing with A level guys like A. Silva he will get murdered. Put him in with someone like Filho and his ground game will come up short. With Silva its his striking that looked like crap. Just my opinion.

He's not B level, that's absurd. He just hasn't learned to deal with Muay Thai yet.

Is Rampage B level? He has a similar weakness.

Demian Maia may be the Fred Astaire of jiu-jitsu, but it’s too bad Silva is the Gene Kelly of kicking everyone’s ass.

he's trained with miletich before. and hughes and sylvia. that was while he was on the tear that lead to him taking the MW belt.

I think he should move to San Diego and train some bjj with the Riberios, and learn from Judo while he's at it. Rich Franklin with an improved grappling game could defeat A. Silva IMO.

What a stud

rampage "HAD" a similar weakness. seems Ibarra helped him conquer a lot of things. Lord knows his wrestling improved leaps and bounds. His boxing is also a lot cleaner and definitely more accurate.

i really think franklin should spend some time with greg jackson. seems like many of the fighters coming out of there are showing notable improvements. just look at what its done for jardine.
