I'd laugh if he just meant that he'd be cornering a fighter at the UFC event.

"One of the best fighters of the category Light Heavyweight in the present time, the Brazilian Lyoto Machida will be the opponent of Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou in the UFC. Hot sources of the World Fight confirm that the fight will be announces in the next days. The Brazilians are chokeed with Sokoudjou, in the first semester of the year the african KO Rogério Minotouro and Ricardo Arona."

EDIT: Ok fixed the link.

Here is a snip from ufc mania:

Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou — who burst onto the scene with impressive wins over top light heavyweights such as Ricardo Arona and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira under the PRIDE FC banner — is not confirmed to fight Lyoto Machida at UFC 79: “Nemesis” on December 29.

The rumor mill has heated up since our earlier post in which we passed along remarks from the “African Assassin” intimating that he might make his Octagon debut on New Year’s Eve weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Not the case, according to Team Quest officials in Murrieta, Calif. However, the bout is “in the works.”

According to our reliable source, no bout agreements have been signed despite indications that both sides are very close to hammering out a deal. “These things fall through all the time,” he said.

It’s important to note that at press time Sokoudjou hasn’t even been signed to a UFC contract.

He has made a decision, however, to fight for the UFC. Other offers from EliteXC and K-1 were “flaky.” In addition, the Team Quest management team feels that his best long-term interests will be served fighting in the United States.

The UFC debut of the powerful 205-pound prospect seems as if it is only a matter of time. At the very least — even if he doesn’t fight Machida at UFC 79 — it looks like Sokoudjou is Octagon bound.

Finally.
Sokky Vs Machida would be amazing! I think Machida would win, but Machida would have to be at his best just to make sure he didnt eat one of those cement blocks that Sokky calls hands.

I really hope this fight happens.

Hmm at this point, I don't see Machida making it past the first round. If he proves he can block Sokky's shots in the first, then I'll have more faith in Lyoto. But for now, I say Sokky by KO in the 1st.

They both have similar stories. Two unknow guys making big debutes by brutaly KOing good fighters. Although Soku has foughten much more high calibur fighters. Soku by KO about4:30 into the first.

For anyone who was guessing Shogun and Houston that makes no sense. He said he is fighting in December. Houston is fighting this weekend and Shogun is out till Feb.

No Sokoudjou vs Machida is sick. I think Machida will give Sokky some problems since his stand up is so slick but I think sooner or later Sokky will put Machida down. And it's weird because Sokky is the only LHW in the world I think will beat Machida.

Machida might take him in a technical stand up match, but we have seen sokky training; he can take Hendo down! He has power! What if he just tried the double leg with all of his massive explosiveness? I say Sokky has too much power for Machida (unless Machida all of a sudden gets aggressive which I don't expect).
