New Shogun Interview

Quoteworthy:

Rua: I donīt like to give excuses -- I lost and that's it, period. Nothing went right. I assume this -- the injury -- interfered in my training, in [especially] the kicks and [with running]. I had a lot of new things in my life: [a] wedding and a new home. But no problem, letīs move ahead. I donīt want to talk about the past, letīs see what is coming next. I'm very young and I know that I can get the UFC belt in the future. I will be back better than ever. All the fighters can follow [their] opponents, with the internet and the show[s] on TV. We can see the skills of our opponents -- Forrest was very well trained [and] I respect that.

and

Rua: Life is funny, no? Quinton Jackson comes to UFC after three terrible defeats in PRIDE ([losing to] me [once] and Wanderlei twice). Now, he has the UFC belt. I think that he has more experience now. After the victory against Liddell he is very confident and [it] is difficult to guarantee that one fight will be the same [as] an old one -- every fight is totally different from [the] other[s].

Pretty cool little interivew, I cannot wait for him to come back. I wonder who they'll throw at him.

One bad fight and you wrote him off in your mind. Some MMA fan you are. While Shogun is my favorite fighter, I am biased. But to me, even if you aren't a Shogun fan, you should always look forward to him coming into a fight.

Shogun is a great young fighter, with a lot to learn and a lot to show. He isn't some Veteran in his 30's who could even damage his career from a few losses.

Can't wait for Shogun to fight again. The guy is crazy fun his two losses (beside the Coleman one) Were pretty similar he gasses and falls into a submission. They were a little different because he gassed much worse against Forrest but Shogun when he has a full gas tank is the most exicting guy in MMA and his two losses were actually pretty fun fights.

I'm hoping for Shogun vs Henderson.

You must not have been following shogun through the years, if you had been you would would notice the shogun at his debut, didn't fight like he usually does. He gassed quick and had a hard time cornering, setting himself up for forrest.

Like Big John Macarthy said, a lot of the pride guys are having a difficult time adjusting to the new rules and cage. Once shogun gets use to the new environment, he'll perform at better.

Shogun was pretty green in the Babalu fight as well. He looked normal in the first round to me, but Forrest out worked him and he gassed.

Exactly Terry the fights weren't exactly the same but a comparision can be drawn.

I mean honestly The 1st round was basically how Shogun fights every time. But usually in the second round he would've stepped up the speed a notch and finished Griffen who was somewhat gassed himself. That is how he has won numerous fight but he didn't have that second gear and in fact he ran outta gas after he hit that elbow.

If Shogun gets his gas tank back he will be the #1 LHW in the world again and I don't see a LHW beating him beside Machida.
