Oooh, I like this.
Both guys are scrappy dudes, who happen to do some grappling on the side. I see Alvin gaining the decision, because, well, dude looked pretty solid in his last fight, and was doing good against Florian, until just being overwhelmed. Nate Diaz looked solid against Junior, sure, but Junior has a tendency to get sloppy, while Alvin's more technical.

Yeah that Jorge Gergel guy freaking sucks. It's ridiculous. He doesn't listen at all. That really pisses me off when a fighter doesn't listen to his corner that's telling him exactly how to win a God damned fight.

Probably Alvin by GNP decision. Nate could pull off a swank sub though.

Nate does have the ability to pull off swank subs out of nowhere. I really liked his performance against Junior.
Also, Gurgel doesn't need to listen because he's Rich Franklin's butt buddy. Why listen when you can just take up spots because your best friend is a big UFC star?

LOL @ the gurgel hate.
i agree though. i've yet to see him in a fight that made me believe he had some right to have a UFC contract.
As for nate, i think he'll win either by sub or split dec. it looks like a fairly close fight... but after seeing spencer fischer put on a total sleepfest at UFC 79- i believe anything is possible.

I think Alvin will have him in trouble for most of the fight, and then Nate will pull off the sub. I like Alvin alot though. They keep throwing him in there with decent guys. And he does well everytime.

It's not really hate, it's the truth. He doesn't deserve a spot in the UFC, yet he always gets one.
Alvin is definitely a guy who I'm impressed with. He really does do well against whoever they throw at him, and he & Nate will have a fun fight, that will involve a shit ton of grapplin', which will rule.

I don't know why everyone (myself included) was so surprised by that not really being an insanely exciting fight. I think we all just looked at two exciting fighters, not the style of those fighters. Edgar was an exciting grappler, Fisher's exciting fights are usually stand up battles.
This fight, on the other hand, should be good. Maybe not FOTY good, but you have two slick grappling dudes going against each other, which is always fun for me to watch.
