Mirko Cro Cop to return at UFC 80?
Quote:
“I think my next fight is going to happen in January.”
– Heavyweight Mirko Cro Cop speculates via his personal Web site that he will return sometime in January (no opponent was named). UFC 80: “Rapid Fire” — scheduled for January 19 in Newcastle, England — would appear to be the most likely event in which the Croatian would participate. That card, according to our UFC 80 fight card, is at eight bouts and is awaiting the final piece of the puzzle. This could be it.
Note: This is from about two weeks ago but was never posted here at MMAmania.com until now. We still felt the need to pass along the possible news.

Didn't he already say this once and didn't Dana say they can't even contact his management???

Man who knows what's going on with Mirko. I hope they do Cro Cop vs Arlovski at UFC 80 and that along with Gonzaga vs Werdum can clear the HW title picture up some.

I doubt Cro Cop will happen they have already announced 5 fights main card bouts. So Cro Cop is unlikely to happen unless they kick one main card bout down to prelim.
I'd love to see Cro Cop cos I'll have to pay for this one but I cant see it happening, especially since he has lost twice in two fights in the UK.

I hope he fights again soon. He only needs to beat a decent opponent and he's right back up there.

Arlovski deserves to fight a contender anyway, and Mirko, sorry to say, isn't one right these days.
Cro Cop has slipped down the ladder a bit, and that might be a good thing for him in the long run. If he gets a mid-level opponent anbd scores a nice win, maybe he'll get some of that confidence back.
But man, he's REALLY needs to learn how to fight in a cage.

That would be the perfect scenario, but its some wishful thinking. I think the UFC is going to save Mirko for the UFC 82 card so they don't have a big letdown after the Super Bowl card.

O I doubt that what I'm saying will happen but it makes a shit load of sense at least to me. I mean I don't feel like Arlovski really deserves a contender right now. I mean he broke a crap load of rules to beat Pe de Pano. And basically refused to risk getting taken down by Werdum. A win is a win but his last two haven't been good.

Then what does he deserve? A fight against a guy on an 0-2 streak? Can UFC not find Andrei a more suitable opponent that that?
Besides, why would Mirko want Andrei? If he loses that fight — and I believe he would, if it was his very next one — then what does he do?

I would give Andrei in a perfect world Vera. But Vera has a broken hand. The only other legit fight better than Cro Cop IMO is Kongo and honestly that doesn't show us anything new about Kongo if he fights another stand up guy. So I think AA vs CC makes sense. Because if Arlovski wins it shows he's not just sneaking by anymore. and If CC wins he's not the bum ppl think he is now.
