Yes, but Serra's hurt, so they're having Hughes and St. Pierre fight for an interim title. There are other options besides putting the injured fighters on a show whose 3 years of declining ratings suggest it might be better laid to rest. Jackson and Griffin were asked to coach in order to save TUF. Is that kind of attention being paid to the the PPV buyrates? I assume so, but which is the top priority?

Serra was a different situation that was a last minute injury and we were promised a title fight. That was more of a political manouvre to appease the fans.
Good point about the PPV buyrates tho.

It's interesting that in a time when UFC's core revenue source is losing steam, that they're removing another title from the PPV rotation.
I'm not saying it's a mistake, but I would like to hear their reasoning. I mean, look at all that was invested in making Hughes Vs. Serra marketable and now all that momentum has been squandered by something beyond their control and likely to happen again.
I would think this next quarter would be the time to keep the belts at the top of the PPVs among other things to ensure the PPV buy rates return to growth.
TUF is great and all, but does it really make sense to waylay championships fights for it?

Championship fights sell better, but I put a lot of faith in the business decisions the UFC makes. Me, I don't have any reasons to blame the title hold-off on anything other than marketing because I don't have any other source other than what I perceive, but even then I feel there could be deeper reasons why all this worked out like this and I couldn't confirm anything unless it came out of Dana's mouth. So I'm stuck with the reasoning that even though they sacrificed something (titles), maybe the declining ratings of TUF (be it long term, getting it's last good run, struggling) really was that important ya know? Just by now, I can't really see the UFC making any decisions that would hurt them or the fans unless they had good reason. They can be setting some really great things in replace of title shots for all we know, I just don't want people to get so upset about something that the UFC might have really good justification for doing. So I'm rolling with my "whatever mentallity" because I have a feeling they'll provide what we need to get us through a couple of title mishaps and if they don't, their regular schedule of fights are good to me. I might stray from the norm in this but seriously, I'm thankful for anything mma throws my way. If that happens to be some up and coming 185ers laying down some smack over a title fight, there's nothing I can change about that so I'll just enjoy it instead of getting upset for now.

Exactly. I'm suggesting they make more of those maneuvers, rather than trying to convince viewers that they want to watch a show they've had six years to form an opinion about.
Again, though, I'm not convinced the UFC is making a mistake, but I am concerned.
