mma round robin idea
i know tournaments work very well in mma, but do you think a round robin could work?
the idea is that you take 4-6 fighters, and they all fight each other once. they could fight every 2 months (or even more often if they do unsanctioned bouts like in TUF)so the round robin would take around 12 months. the winner is the fighter with the most wins, in the event of a draw it'd be the fighter who had more points on the judges score cards or most impressive victories (i.e first round knockouts). i know 12 months is a long time, but this could be done with lower tier fighters such as michael bisping, rashad evans, jason lambert etc. the overall winner would get a title shot. this would take a lot more effort than a tournament because to win this you have to show great consistency.
the only problem i see with it is that some fighters could lose most of their fights, and win/loss records are important in ufc.
