Predictions on Hughes GSP?

I think we will see a very similar fight to the last one. GSP may be a little more cautious, and Hughes a little more aggresive. Which could play into Hughes favor. But I think if GSP settles into his rythem he will methodically pick Hughes apart..

Heres an awesome vidhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlgxNcCGUfE&eurl=http://mmamania.com/

I'm taking GSP. He's shown he can stuff Hughes takedowns and he is the better striker. I think Hughes is training hard for this fight and will manage to get it to the ground at least once.

The fight is going to be closer than their second match and I think GSP will stop Matt late in the fight with some GnP after catching him with something. TKO victory, 4th Round.

I know GSP is going to win this fight. He is going to come into the fight and overwhelmingly dominate the entire fight. I predict that GSP is going to show us the same type of game plan that he used against Josh Koschek and go for the surprising take down and put Hughes into a vulnerable position. GSP takes this fight possibly the 2nd round if not by a KO in the 1st round.

Ya, it's just absurd to think Hughes can win this, and I'm not trying to be bias lol

Hughes game was to take people down and GNP them or submit them. He's no longer that guy, GSP is. GSP will decide where this fight goes, and that's just a bad omen for Hughes.

It's too late for him to improve his standup and GSP is just too big and strong for Hughes to run "his gameplan"

Again, I don't see how he can pull this off, other than pulling a Serra :dunno:

Hughes.

He is a strong fighter who is used to fighting in five round championship fights - he's been to the dance many times.

He had a guaranteed shot at the champ: Serra. Yet, he took this fight with GSP. You have to wonder why.

After the beatdown he was served by GSP last time, if he's taking this fight, it's because he's very confident he will win it.

A confident Matt Hughes. I can't bet against that guy. I think he'll stop GSP.

I dislike Matt Hughes but I think that he can beat GSP. I feel that how he lost that last fight will be in the back of his mind and get him motivated to avenge his awful performance. I see GSP as the popular pick, I just have a feeling that Hughes will come out looking to erase the memory of the previous fight. Personally, I hope I am wrong and GSP destroys him.

GSP by TKO in the 2nd, that's my prediction. I think Hughes is going to underestimate GSP's wrestling, and that will end up being his demise. Once Hughes realizes he can't just take GSP down whenever he wants to, GSP will capitalize and finish the fight, probably in a similar fashion to the last fight.

I don't really see how people don't think the odds should be stacked against GSP.

He has only had a month to prepare, where as Hughes has had since August.
He has no real camp. Spending half time with Jackson and half your time in Canada cannot be that productive. (That started before the Serra fight)
The phone conference that got posted all over GSP admitted his diet was wayyy off because he wasn't expecting a fight so he was immediately changing that.

So we have an ill prepared, bad diet, no camp GSP fighting a very well prepared, strong diet (hired Ashley Borden) and a very strong camp Matt Hughes.

Lol, he didn't say that at all! He did say that his diet wasn't the best it could possibly be, but in no way did he say it was "wayyy off." He also said he was in extraordinary shape when he heard about this opportunity.

I am a Matt Hughes hater. Dont like the guy at all. But that doesn't mean that I am counting him out of this fight. He has the heart of a champion and is able to give opponents hell once he gains momentum in a fight.

I think GSP has the mental advantage in this fight. He has been sounding extremely confident lately whereas matt seems a bit reserved. He's giving Georges a lot of credit making it sound like he's already covering his ass for a loss.

This fight could be a bit lackluster seeing how they both really want that title shot against serra. They may both come out and fight conservatively.

Who knows, either way I have GSP TKO 5th round.

GSP for sure.

Wayyy better striking - tremendously improved ground game - has the motivation out of the 2 to want this one more - whilst Hughes would have to be a little deflated from not getting his matchup v Serra - Yep...of course, surprises happen, but personally - I can see nothing but a stoppage victory (Whether by TKO or submission) for the GSP Man here!

Don;t know if he has the power to KO Hughes - but with the right gameplan - he definitely won't need to!!

GSP certainly has more tools to win the fight. That said, I think Matt Hughes really believes he is going to win this fight. I don't think Matt would have taken the fight if he didn't think he could beat GSP. He could have waited for Serra to recover or taken an easier opponent. I'm going with Hughes in this fight by GnP in the 4th.

How many Hughes fights have you watched? Obviously not that many if you think his fights are "so boring to watch". You know out of 41 wins he's finished 31 fights right? Go watch Hughes vs Trigg 1 and 2, Hughes vs. Newton, Hughes vs. Penn 1 and 2, Hughes vs. Gracie, Hughes GSP 1 and 2 and Hughes vs Sakurai. Then come back and tell us how boring he is. The truth is, Matt Hughes has had a lot of exciting fights.

I'm pulling for Hughes, but i'm unsure how this fight will go. Most people are assuming GSP will tear Hughes apart, however if Hughes has a decent game plan I can see him pulling off an "upset". I hope he does, I want to see him own the **** out of Serra.

honestly, this fight could go either way.

i see gsp trying to stand and trade shots, seeing as he has a huge advantage in the standup and won their last fight that way. whereas matt will be desperately going for takedowns, i think he'll realise that gsp is a huge threat on the feet this time around.

all it comes down to is if matt can take gsp down or not. gsp has a great sprawl, but if hughes is relentless with the takedowns he's sure to get him down sooner or later. when he does i see him controlling gsp looking for submissions and ground n poound. i wouldn't be surprised tried for that wierd position he got bj penn locked in, he's been trying for that alot recently.
