Did a search and couldn't find it, kinda suprised it hasn't been posted because everyone wants to know what Kongo will be up to.

If Mcully wins this, and becomes a contender I will cry. He is the co owner of the most boring fight I have ever witnessed in my entire life. I prey that Kongo can keep him standing, unlike when Marrero took him down at will.

I hate to talk crap about guys who get in there and fight and I hate to judge someone off of one fight but that is exactly what I am going to do with Justin Mcully. The kid looked awful the time I saw him fight. I was actually laughing at him. Very boring, not that good of a wrestler from what I could see and Kongo would absolutely smash this guy. These fighters are not on the same level.

McCully took the fight on two weeks notice and has been training with Tito. He'll get better. Kongo should beat him, but we'll get to see the wrestling and ground game he says he has. He needs to get well-rounded to be a Contender. There are good stand-up fighters and good ground guys. He can't just be one or the other.

What does training with Tito have to do anything with it did you miss TUF 3? I posted the fight along with Sylvia/Nog becoming half official but it's alright because I didn't make it a headliner. Anyways I think Justin is a good test like kds said to see if Kongo has a ground game because if he doesn't this could turn out like his fight with Carmelo Marrello except for this time he will lose a UD, but I think he will win.

This will be a good chance for Kongo to display some of his wrestling against an opponent who's not really a world class grappler, or even a particularly qualified wrestler like Marrero.

I know that Cheick's been working on it with Juanito Ibarra, so he should have developed some sort of sprawl to keep the fight standing.

If he does that, it will be over in a round.

Cheick deserves better after beating Crocop, I would say McCully is a better opponent for Crocop not Cheick. Once again another example of the UFC trying to hype up Crocop then not knowing what to do when he doesn't win.

Maybe the ufc is trying to build Kongo as a star by giving him a fight he should win so people recognize him more as a awesome fighter.

If this fight does happen i predict a visicous KO by kongo.

Wow, they really don't wanna give Kongo a chance, do they. He should be fighting contenders but they're pitting him against someone who, stylistically, is a very bad fight for him and someone whome if he beats, he progresses nowhere. It must be because he's black, French, and said he wanted to thank his partner (nudge nudge, wink wink) after his last fight.

Man, if Justin Mcully beats Kongo it's going to just mess shit up in the HW division. But then again, if Cheick Kongo can't beat a shitty ass Mcully then it's pointless to have him fight top competition anyways, so whatev.

Kongo is crap on the ground, so they're giving him an average grappler to prove that he can do something on the ground.

Standing he is lethal, but on the ground he is completely unproven. I think the UFC want to test him without feeding him to the wolves.

I mean yeah, technically there isn't much there but on the ground he is at least strong enough to get out of situations. People have a lot of trouble keeping him down and he consistantly gets up time and time again. I still subscribe to the belief that Kongo is steadily improving on the ground at Big Bear and Juanito sure wouldn't neglect training the ground game. I don't think the ground game is really the issue, I think its the take down defense. Although we have seen him do some nice sprawls a few times.

Cheick "Low Blow" Kongo
Thank you, you've really contributed the the discussion.

I'm not understanding what McCully has done to earn a fight with a contender already. I thought Kongo was talking about getting a title shot and now he is fighting this dude. It would be a shame if McCully just laid on top of him the whole fight. I think Kongo will get him in the clinch and then it is all over.

netplay?

But yeah, McCully has never stood out. "Low Blow" Kongo has impressed me, when he isn't hitting guys in the groin. Probably get another decision though.
