Who cares what he says? He still gets his job done, and for being so predictable he continues to win fights.
This is the only one that makes sense.
How do you know he's becoming overconfident? His last fight was 2 days ago and he WON IT. Hughes is always confident, that's how he has been his entire career, he didnt all of a sudden get confidence.
Now, regardless, I believe GSP will beat him, but not for the reasons you just typed.

EXCELLENT post. For real I think this is the best response I've gotten so far. We disagree but thank you

I think the only thing GSP has over Hughes is his stand-up game and his ability to push the pace. If Matt can avoid GSP's stand-up and get to the ground, he will be able to over power GSP. GSP best move would be to stand-up with Matt. Unless if maybe he could get top position early he might be able to finish. Also stop trying to compare how GSP fought against BJ to how Matt fought against BJ. In fights there is a certain type of fighter that fighters have a tough time with. GSP has great stand-up with good ground game. That is why he was able to make BJ gas himself in the first a take him in the second and third. Matt doesn't have good stand-up, but has great ground game. This was key for to go into survival mode and let BJ gas himself. He was kind of lucky but he does have a win in his corner.

I completly agree with that post DeLarge, great post. And Soleks I know fighter match up with other fighters differently. The only reason I compared they're 2 BJ fights is because of the comment GSP made and someone said GSP looked better on the ground against BJ. But I agree that GSP will win.

If the round hadnt ended? The round did end and Hughes survived it. This is the same as saying "We would have won that football game if they hadnt scored more touchdowns than us"
"5. He is becomming overconfident"
You say Hughes is overconfident and full of himself? I think GSP is as overconfident if not more. Why fight is you dont have confidence in your own skills?
Matt may have lost the first two rounds, but the fact is he survived them, he didnt get knocked out, despite BJ's best efforts. Matt Hughes came out on top because he utilized one of his most dangerous weapons, his endurance. Goes to show despite his "overconfidence" he still trains hard and is prepared for every title defense.

the reason why Matt will lose this fight is because he'll be going against a fighter that will take Matt out of his comfort zone which is on top in someone elses guard...
GSP has the ability to do one of several things that will take Matt out of this comfort zone:
1) he can outstrike Matt on his feet - GSP is the more natural striker on his feet having been a former Tae Kwon Do practitioner and showing that he is more comfortable on his feet than Matt has in his fights...
2) he can prevent the takedown - GSP has shown in his fights that he has a great sprawl (refer to the his fight against Sherk as well as what occurred in his first fight)
3) GSP and his conditioning - GSP has shown in his fights that he can go the distance in a 3 round fight...although we havent seen him go the whole 25 minutes, GSP has always come into his fights in top shape...
although i wouldnt say itd be a cakewalk for GSP in a rematch with Hughes, a lot of signs point in favor of GSP with the exception of his camp vs. Hughes'...Hughes has one of the best camps in the game that'll have him prepared to fight. GSP's isnt on the same level and may not come into the fight ready (physically and/or mentally)...this fight will be a good one, cant wait...

No offence or anything, but i think you really need to stop trying to find reasons why matt hughes is going to lose because its really stupid.
He is easy to get into a submission?
Im pretty sure Hughes just beat Royce Gracie AND BJ Penn who are considered the best submission fighters in the world.
So ya i guess your right GSP who i believe if anything JUST got brown/black belt in Jiu Jitsu sure must be better then one of the founders of BJJ and another one of the best BJJ fighters in the world.

3. He is predictable - No matter how much Matt wants to wish to knock someone out, he has always, and will ALWAYS goes to the ground
4. He is due for a loss - Having as many title defences as Hughes does is not an advantage - it speaks volumes about his MMA skills, but it makes losing a bigger probability with each win. Anyone who plays proline knows this
5. He is becomming overconfident - Most will disagree with me on this because Hughes seems to take everything in stride, but ever since TUF 2, he has gotten cockier, and cockier, and cockier. Cockiness is a symptom of overconfidence and it really showed in the BJ fight. Hughes got absolutly NOTHING accomplished untill BJ gassed. It really looked like this was gonna be it for Hughes up untill the third round

Definitely. I agree 100%. GSP next Welterweight champ.

I don't have anything intelligent to say here cause I love GSP more than anything ever lol
And I think Matt Hughes is pretty damn good, but dude, GSP was right, there was nothing impressive about that fight except Penn hurting himself and possibly gassing (which I didn't really see, they were both tired) that setup the loss for Penn
Anyways, GSP will win and I'd bet money on it!
