Light Weight B.S.
Anyone else feel that the LW title was not properly contended for?????? Kenny Florian - what the hell. Normally there would be a round robin or whatever to detemin the top contenders. I could be wrong, but it didn't seem like this happened if you ask me. Seems like they just picked 2 guys and said "the winner gets to be the LW champ"

I agree, these 2 fighters aren't even anything to gawk over.
Kindof makes the lightweight division an embarrasment.

Sean Sherk mos definitly deserves a chance for this.. his only 2 losses are in the welterweight division against the 2 top fighters, Matt Hughes & GSP
a round robin would have been cool and would have boosted some ratings.. they should have had some Ultimate Fight Nights just dedicated to this.. it would have made for good TV

The LW division is stacked. Its gonna be the second best division in the UFC. But I agree the two contenders really didnt do a whole lot to be the two contenders. Though I do think Sherk is gonna be the best in the division for now.

I might be mistaken, but I believe at least Florian is the top contender for the belt due to his domination of everyone in that weight class. I don't recall him taking more than 1 loss which is more than I can say for anyone else who's been fighting in or near that weight class in the last year. I think the overall strength and will of Sherk makes this a good fight to watch which probably came into the decision process.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on who else deserves the shot more. Please list the fighters in the light weight division that you think are better than Florian.

UFC should go after Charles "Krazy Horse" Bennet...
he would be a VERY dominent lightweight in UFC... plus he is just one hell of a entertaining guy
shit he put up a hell of a fight against The Fireball Kid Takanori Gomi.. and actually didnt even tap to the submission he was in...

BJ Penn, Joe Stevenson, Mark Hominick, Yves Edwards, Tyson Griffin. The lightweight division is pretty stacked. But you are right, Kenny Florian will get smashed since hes not ready. So what if he beat Sam Stout and Kit Cope, two cans right there that are not even worth mentioning to other lightweights in the division. If Florian did reject the title shot however who else is their? All of those fighters I mentioned are fighting someone else, just knew, or only won once and not ready for a shot.
