don't listen to shaw, he's just trying to get cheap publicity. shaw would love the exposure elitexc would get if they did a ppv against ufc. if their talent win fights its a big bonus, if they lose it doesnt matter because they got the attention they wanted.

The top UFC roster would murder the top EliteXC roster. The only EliteXC fighter I could see as a threat to the top UFC fighters is Antonio Silva, but Nog, and a few others, would still beat him.

Shields, Shamrock and Lawler might not beat the current UFC title holders but I do think they could do some damage in their respective divisions. They would all be contenders at one point.

I would say that the percentage of top fighters that Elitexc has, compared to amount of fighters as a whole, is comparable to UFC's. UFC's roster list dwarfs EliteXC.

What I'm saying is that only having 5 or so top guys out of 24 fighters totalt (at least that is all they have on their website) isn't too bad.

I think Frank Shamrock, The Crow, Lawler, Ninja, Shields, Renzo Gracie, Nick Diaz, Antonio Sylva, Cung Le, and possibly Crazy Horse could all pose potential problems for top UFC fighters in their respective weight classes.

That all depends on your definition of a "top fighter". Surely you don't think Cung Le, Lawler, etc could have a shot at Anderson Silva? For the most part, the EliteXC's top roster is full of B+ fighters. Are there any A level fighters in EliteXC? Of course there are, but not enough to challenge the UFC.

Sorry I didn't say this before but. If UFC Champs are "Club Champs" than what does that make his Champions?

I'm not saying they could all take out the UFC belt holders in their respective weight classes, but that they are good enough that they would only win a couple of wins be a top contender.

Do you really think that anyone besides Hendo really has a shot against Silva? Of course not. He's a bad example because he is so far ahead of the pack.

I just want the UFC to stop hoarding its fighters like a dragon with its gold. If the UFC's fighters are that far ahead of everyone else, what do you risk by setting up cross promotional fights? I'm sure Frank Shamrock would love to try and beat some of the UFC's top fighters, just to get back at them. There is plenty of publicity that can be drummed up for that sort of cross-promotional fight.

“I extend the challenge and always have,” Shaw said. “It’s like Kimbo. You want to fight him? Call us up. You can come to the cage and fight him. You want to fight Jake Shields? Fight Jake Shields. We’re proud of the people we represent. (EliteXC middleweight champ) Robbie Lawler? I could go down the whole roster. “But for Dana White to try to convince the fans that he owns all of the best fighters in the world? To say that this is just a starting point for fighters and then they’re going to go to UFC? He is full of sh–. Let him fight our fighters.“
In fact, Shaw is willing to put his wallet where his mouth is.
“Let’s do some fights — winner-take-all,” Shaw said. “Let’s put up a million-dollars purse. Let’s pick a weight. Let’s really get it on for the fans.
“When he’s ready to do that, then give me a call.“
Shaw's point is not that EliteXC or any other promotion has better fighters than the UFC. It's that if White wants to claim that the best fighters are in the UFC and the UFC alone, he should be willing to prove it.

I can count the number of ufc champions on my fingers. Gary Shaw has different weight classes for certain fighters (160 for Diaz), freak shows galore, and God knows how many titles in different promotions owned by the company.

Shaw is such a moron. You heard it here first: he is single-handedly going to bring a boxing influence into MMA that will hurt the sports growth.
