I understand the problem you are arguing might happen, but would you rather the UFC hold a monopoly on top level MMA and hold onto their fighters like possessions?

Cross-promotional work can be great for the sport, as long as it's done right.

Big words from a small organization yes but in a sense he is right. Dana knows he could've made Fedor vs. Randy happen, not only that, other organizations have asked for their cooperation in setting up similar fights and they are always turned down But yeah most the UFC fighters would infact stomp some shit up.

This is just competition, and competiton is a good thing. I don't want too see the UFC hold the monopoly on the sport. It's good too see that things are catching up to them. EliteXC, even M-1. Capitalism works, and benefits the consumer, and the fighters will probably get paid better once the sport is really established. Good times ahead.

I want to see who breaks into true national broadcasting first. Mickey's beer as your main sponsor is still not mainstream in my opinion.

UFC might have most of the talent- but that will not last forever.

He is just trying to get his name out there.

I understand where he is coming from, but its pretty sad lol.
He has no top tier talent. Half of the guys are UFC rejects and the other half wouldn't last either.
Kimbo wouldn't be able to stand with any of our top HW's, same with Shields at WW and so on and so forth.

UFC VS EliteXC? Man I miss the old UFC VS PRIDE debates when people wondered which had the best fighters, and both sides had great arguments. This is kind of one sided.

Do you really think that anyone besides Hendo really has a shot against Silva? Of course not. He's a bad example because he is so far ahead of the pack.

I just want the UFC to stop hoarding its fighters like a dragon with its gold. If the UFC's fighters are that far ahead of everyone else, what do you risk by setting up cross promotional fights? I'm sure Frank Shamrock would love to try and beat some of the UFC's top fighters, just to get back at them. There is plenty of publicity that can be drummed up for that sort of cross-promotional fight.
First of all, I respect your opinion and see where you are coming from on this but I thought I would point out that people are responding in this way to Shaws comments because he said that UFC champs are CLUB CHAMPS, insinuating that his champs should be regarded as equal to UFC champs when we all know that while some of his fighters are GOOD, none of them would hold a belt in UFC. That said, why would Dana give up part of his market share to Elite XC to make cross promotion fights happen when he knows realistically none of those guys could actually challenge UFC belts. If there is no real threat to the legitimacy of the UFC titles then he should not care about acquiring or making fights happen with just GOOD fighters because he has plenty of GOOD fighters, he should be looking for fighters who could make a move to the top and potentially challenge a title

And he wont at least by name, he'll make an off the cuff joke out of it at his next press confrence while never once mentioning who or what he is talking about. This almost reminds me of when Vince McMahon started the XFL and started running his mouth about the NFL, its all in the hopes of a UFC rebuttal since I dont think he really wants a crossover fight as it would completly expose them as a second rate company, hell Frank Shamrock is probably the most legitimate fighter on there roster and the only one who could survive in the UFC.

Secondly Capatalism doesnt work that is why boxing is a f***ing joke now, like it or not a monopoly with one or two major companies is way better for the sport than if every pissant promotion manages to get established.

Ok, let me rephrase-

Mickey's was not impressive, Harley ok- in terms or revenue number 380 on the 500 list- but then again their proit margin is highly suspect at best.

Harley advertises with the UFC now since a lot of bikermeets host small time fights now. Which is fine with me, because now the few idiots that get into fights do it in the ring instead of out of.

And incidentally- was this an Ad? On SPike or PPV? What exactly are we talking about?

And I really do hope your cheeks fall off from your failed maniacal laughter. So keep holding your grudge thinking you got me. UFC is not yet mainstream. Almost, but not quite.
