The most solid advice I can give to anyone who fights BJ Penn is...do not motivate the guy. Lets face it, BJ although talented, is naturally lazy. Your job is to NOT convince him to step on that treadmill.

Oh yeah, I agree with you there, no doubt.

I screwed up twice in 1 post, lol. I meant Henderson!

Anyways, I see what you are saying, but my point is all of these guys started out as wreslters, but once they realized they could KO people they focused on their stand up and then that is what they became known for.

IF, and it is a big if, Brock ends up actually having good standup then people may re-evaluate him. I really do not believe that he is going to out "box" any stand up guy, but you never know till it happens. I never thought Gonzaga would be known for his head kicks either. Hell he threw 2 or 3 of them in his fight with Couture and actually hurt him.

People often correlate 1 style with a strength and a weakness. Often times we are proven wrong yet everyone goes right back to it. I do not know how this fight is going to go because we don't know which Mir will show up or how good (or bad) Brock is. For all I know Brock could have dynamite in his hands, or be as weak as a body builder. His wrestling could translate well and help him with GnP, or it could get him subbed. It will take 3 or 4 fights before we will get a "feel" for him.

really you think that hendo has goood standup

sure his overhand right is good....but the rest is a lil overrated at least imo

i definately think your right sure brock stands a chance at being good at standup....but to do this he needs to utilize angles, swing his hips, and really dedicate to it.....i mean we still dont know if this guy has a glass jaw....this comming from a guy who hasnt really ever been punched in the mouth before

I don't think there is anyone short of Couture or Fedor who could keep Lesnar on his back. Mir will be looking to work from his back, he's more dangerous from that position anyhow.

Hendo, Randy and Chuck come to mind, Rampage too for that matter. But yes, they are the exception to the rule. I know Mir isn't a striker, but it wouldn't surprise me if he has better striking than Brock who has considerably less stand up experience than even Mir. Even if Lesnar has good hands, nobody knows what his chin is made of.

Brocks stand-up isn't going to be technically sound but I do believe if he fakes a shot and some how connects on Mir it will be lights out, the guy obviously has power.
