I think the biggest difference between this fight and the last one will be that GSP will take this fight to the ground as soon as possible. If Serra can stuff the take downs, or use his BJJ to neutralize GSP on the ground then I think he still has a good shot. But ever since that loss I think GSP has spent a total time of 15 seconds standing in a fight.

I seem to recall a guy by the name of Matt Hughes that made the mistake of allowing GSP to make a mistake that led to his 1st MMA loss professionally. Then I remember the absolute destruction of Matt Hughes in their second bout. Coincidence that GSP lost both matches to Matt's? Perhaps.

But, you can bet we will soon see the absolute destruction of Matt Serra, that is for sure.

If BJ Penn, could not neutralize GSP with his BJJ, how in the hell is Serra suppose to (with all due respect)?

Yeah but BJ also turned GSP's face into tomato paste, he had to spend the night in the hospital afterwards. BJ's damage wasn't his BJJ oh no, it was those fists of his.

Which I find ironic because BJ whooped GSP's ass standing, he lost in the end but the visual results were disturbing. And Serra, another BJJ guy, who actually knocked GSP out, in the first round.

Is GSP prone to strikes from BJJ practicioners?

No point in arguing with someone who has GSP as their avatar. But I will make one quick response and then let it go with you. Just because one persons method of BJJ didn't work doesn't mean all won't. Each person has their own method and style. For all we know Serra could have the right style and method of BJJ to beat GSP. Hell, GSP's old BJJ coach was also, and still is, Serra's. There has got to be some advantage there.

And no I am not saying Serra will win, but I do think that everyone is calling a victory before the fight again. Serra beat GSP once, call it a fluke or whatever, but it is always harder fighting someone who has beaten you before.

Edit: Also if you look at my thread I said "if", I never said would.

Good luck to both men regardless.

Unfair for Serra? Wow, that is laughable. Unfair is a guy with a 9-4 record who has never beaten anyone even remotely decent getting a title shot over about half a dozen people more deserving. Serra got a title shot after beating a couple cans on TUF, it was one of the biggest gifts in the history of mma and he made the most of it.

You're wrong anyway, the UFC has such a hard on for rematches they'd probably give him one within a year anyway.

Yeah, my avatar is of GSP, but look lower, at my sig. WHO IS #1? Baby Jay is. You are right, but both Serra and BJ were trained by Gracies. Penn was the first non-Brazilian world champion of BJJ. That should say enough. His BJJ did neutralize GSP enough to prevent real damage and not allow GSP to end it with strikes. However, it did not win him the fight or get him into dominant positions in order to win the fight by finishing or decision. Serra will find it more difficult than BJ did because of two things, not as skilled or flexible as BJ, and his limbs are not as long which makes it harder for him to control GSP or get subs on the stronger opponent.

Yeah you wanna know what I think is unfair, that people continue to disrespect and underrate Serra. This guy is the freakin World Welterweight Champion of the world. Him not receiving his dues from people like you is unfair.

I think it's unfair that Serra has to fight GSP in Canada. The crowd there is going to be off the charts for GSP, they will give Serra absolutlely no respect at all, I bet the boo's he receives that night will be bigger than anything we've seen thus far.

If GSP wins that night, like I said before, EVERYONE is going to be like "I told you so". I know it, you know it and the people reading this knows it, don't you think that's unfair?

Well your right about him making the most of his 'gift' he knocked out someone considered P4P the best fighter in the world at the time. And I think its a mistake to think that it was a fluke cause in all reality, it could happen again.
