It would have been much less hassle for Randy Couture to just have fought the 2 more fights and been done with the contract istead of this nonsense. He could've had his last fight coming up shortly.
Doubtful. Cause then Dana would probably be saying he has to wait out the specified time on his contract and not the number of fights. Or like people have said on here, they probably wouldn't give him that last fight until the end of the time on his contract.
I understand why Randy wants to do it...its a straight shot at the #1 dude, but it still defies logic. He could avenge a loss to Barnett who would be ranked higher had he not sat out so long
Avenge a loss to Barnett? The fact that Barnett was stripped of the title for roids does that by itself.
But does he really get the crown if he doens't beat the #2 guy? And would you say that he would be ranked #1 if he beat Fedor? If yes, how could he justify his #1 ranking if he never fought Nog?
So winning wouldn't mean jack if he didn't then fight everyone other fighter Fedor has fought? Nice logic.
Think of the Randy/Nog/Fedor situation this way. If Randy did comeback and beat Nog what would that win mean in a lot of fans eyes? Most people would be saying he beat an unprepared Nog and if this was Pride Nog would have destroyed him. The reception would be lukewarm just like Kongo's win over Mirko or Forrest win over Shogun!
To be honest he should be stripped as soon as he is offered a legitimate fight and doesn't accept it (without having a valid excuse ie. injury, sickness). And he was already offered a fight with Nogueira right?
I think he was offered that fight 2 months after he left the UFC, or tried to. And I think he actually does have an injury, I think he rebroke his band or arm, not 100% on that though.
Problem with your argument is, Randy has tried to get out of his contract. Remember the whole, "they aren't paying me enough?" He has gone to court to try to get out of the contract and now that he see's that he can't get out, he is saying he will just wait it out.
I thought at the time he said it was his understanding that his contract was up in a couple months or something like that.
