Maybe they are counting on Edgar and Kenny winning so they can set them up for a number one comtender fight on PPV

I am excited about this match. I think they are testing Edgar to see if he is ready for a title fight. He beat Griffin, a very skilled submission specialist barely, but it was his first match in the UFC. He DOMINATED Fischer, a very skilled striker. And now I bet they are thinking, "OK, lets see what he can do against a very skilled ground-n-pounder". I think Maynard might catch him with a hook.

Very Interesting matchup IMO and a far better card then the upcoming PPV's overall.

The ufc's style of match making is perplexing. Its like rankings don't exist in mma anymore, completely meaningless. Shit is getting like pro wrestling; they'll just build up who they want and do it long term.

I'm not underestimating anyone. Frankie Edgar has better hands and *arguably* better wrestling. He's also proven. Gray Maynard's a guy who could be something, but I think he should be fighting guys like Terry Etim and Matt Grice. Edgar's already proven himself, and should be fighting guys like Florian and Stevenson.

I agree with you Damone to a point. Joe Silva needs to flip that coin until Edgar v. Florian and J-Lo v. Maynard happens, at least on paper but I like the matchups as they are because I believe that Florian v. Edgar would be very similar to Florian v. Sherk or Edgar v. Fischer...and we have seen those fights....all 40 minutes.

Maynard is the underdog in this fight but just because he was on TUF doesn't mean he's a rookie. Edgar isn't exactly a veteran of the sport yet, he's just on a roll (a very impressive one).

Maynard would have been my second choice for Edgar's next fight, my first choice would have been Manny G.

Hm...whats the point of this fight? Edgar is just going to destroy him standing up.

Respectfully, you don't think these guys are both looking for the takedown immediately? Also, Maynard has proven one punch knockout power, what about Edgar? After all, neither of these guys are strikers, they just know how to nullify them.

I think Maynard will want to takedown immediately when he's getting picked apart by Edgar. He's proven to have one punch power against guys with bad defense. From what I've seen as well Maynard doesn't exactly have the best gas tank. Edgar can fight for days, I can easily see a TKO for Edgar.

I see your point about the gas tank.....DAMN, does anyone know where I could stream the Maynard v. Siver untelevised fight? Want to see how Maynard did in the third. Edgar's conditioning along with many others at LW is unquestionable.
