Good ol' Sugar Ray Robinson! Think about it, both are wiry guys who can dance. Both are black (Andy = African Brazilian, Sugar Ray = African American) and have weird punching power. Both ˛ave pinpoint accuracy.

In the same way, Hendo could be Jake LaMotta! Tough, forward going guy who hits like a truck and can take major beatings without backing down!

Just another proof of how epic this fight will be!

Are there any fighters whose styles really remind you of a boxer? Who fights like Mike Tyson for instance?

PS: I'm not a major boxing fan, but just made the observation.

EDIT: Ooh I frgot, here's how Sugar Ray's fights look like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fK2Cc2mxNA&feature=related

I just added their skincolour to the list of their similarities to make the similarities greater in number

I'm really not interested in race in relation to fighting skills. :thumb02:

i'm not much of a boxing fan, but i can't see how Anderson fights like anything other than a Muay Thai fighter? I don't like comparing fighters styles usually, but especially not from MMA to boxing. totally different movement and ring awareness requird, as well as whole different levels of agility and stamina. I look at Anderson as a prototypical MMA fighter who excells in Muay Thai and is well versed in BJJ when necessary!

It's like saying Fedor fights like a young Mark Kerr but with great subs... no relevence really.

No he doesn't. An MMA guy can't fight like a boxer period.

What the ****? Anderson isn't "African Brazilian", where the HELL did you get that? God's sake people need to understand that just because someone is bald and isn't white doesnt make him an African.. hes a native Brazilian.

There are 2 types of Brazilians. The natives, and the Euro-based Portugese.

I'm guessing you haven't traveled outside the states much (not a knock on you but a lot of americans usually don't)

but uhhhh.... I'm usually not the type to get all politically correct and all but um (how can I put this),

Anderson Silva is definitely an "Afro Brazillian". and as an FYI, there are more people of african descent living in Brazil then there are in the United States.

LOL. The natives!!!!!!!!!!! Most of the indians that were native are gone. Most of Sentral ad SOuth america is filled with Afros. U can thanks the slave trade for that!

I am willing to bet that his ancestory is somehow slave related. As is any most blacks from the Americas.

Daemn people really need to calm down...

My point of this thread was that both physically and skill wise Anderson Silva reminds me of Sugar Ray Robinson. They have similar approach to combos and dodging when they fight, both can dance outsie and inside the ring/octagon and they have similar physical appearence, i.e. lanky body structure and they're both black (exept Andy is bald :) and Sugar Ray is not).

I mean common why do people get so heated so easily?
