Is BJ Penn a Has-Been???
I think so. I have maaad respect for BJ, and he has some heavy accomplishments under his belt, but he just can't pull off a win. They should have him fight Danny Abbadi just to throw him a bone.

No, I don't think he is a has been.
He gassed in the St. Pierre fight, but shit happens, not everyone can be cardio machines, especially when they're a natural lightweight fighting as a welterweight. He's got some extra slack he has to get used to.
He injured himself in the Hughes fight, again shit happens. We ALL know that BJ was the better fighter in that fight, Hughes fans may not want to admit it, but it was clear, and no I'm not being biased.
He lost to Machida....try to remember that BJ is a natural 155-pounder, and Machida is a 205-pounder. Think about that for a second. Also remember that Machida is the only guy to ever beat Rich Franklin, and he did it in a matter of seconds. BJ took him to the distance and lost to a decision. That shows insane guts and insane abilities to be able to do that.
He's not a has been, he's not even 30 years old man. He's what, 27? Something like that, no way in hell can he be considered a has been at this point. And I doubt you will find one person on this whole forum that thinks he's a has been....never know though...

I agree with you %1000 BJ was definatly the better fighter. But I truely believe he didn't gas ( in the Hughes fight, and I know you didn't claim that, but many others have ). It was a seperated rib. I think the last 3 rounds would've went the same as the first 2 if that hadn't happened.

The first time Penn has ever been finished was in the Hughes(2) match. He'll be back, and I hope he's motivated this time(Not saying he wasn't motivated in the Hughes fight). The guy has God given talent, and it seems like he just doesn't care.
He lost to Machida(A HW-LHW), but I gained a lot of respect for Penn in that fight. BJ brought it to Lyoto, and was the one to play the aggressor.
Machida did not beat Franklin in a matter of seconds. In fact, it took almost 2 rounds. Still, I see your point.

Yea, he swears up and down that his cardio was good. He said he trained a lot of 25-30 minutes fights. He's not dumb. He knows damn well what his mistake was in the GSP fight, a lot of people tend to think that the fighter's aren't aware of their mistakes. He knew he need to up his cardio, and I can guarantee he made sure his cardio was good enough to go at least 5 rounds with Hughes. I have the Hughes/Penn2 fight saved on my cable box, and I've watched it several times (in agony lol). But in all seriousness, when he went to his corner after the 2nd round, that man was NOT gassed! If there was a a way to prove whether he was gassed or not, I would bet every paycheck I get for the rest of my life that he was not gassed. I am that confident. He was not breathing hard AT ALL. He was just staring, he was in his own world. In his interviews, he says stuff about how he knew he was hurt and stuff. You can tell, when he's sitting in his corner, and the camera is on him for most of the time in between Rd2 and Rd3, that he was trying to block out his pain. He didn't respond to any of his teammates and corner men, took maybe 1 sip of water and spit the rest out. He was just staring the whole time, trying to block out his pain. He was NOT gassed. And anyone who says otherwise, watch that part that I explained and you'll see what I mean.

Woopsy, I pulled a Rush, sorry. But it was fast when it finished. I have only seen this fight in poor quality one time on YouTube and it was quite a while ago. I thought I had a better memory than that, my bad.
