Nogueira, Mir To Coach Next Season of TUF
An unofficial source tells Cage Potato that the coaches have been signed for the next season of The Ultimate Fighter, and they are none other than UFC heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and former champ Frank Mir.
Of course, this means that Mir will be getting the next shot at the heavyweight strap, and that the title will be out of circulation for a looooong time while they film, edit, and air the show.
This latest revelation might also shed some light on why the UFC has been purging its heavyweight roster. With this development off in the distance, they have less need for guys like Tim Sylvia and Jake O’Brien hanging around the water cooler down at the Zuffa headquarters.
While we’re a little disappointed that we won’t get to see Sylvia coach his own TUF team and try desperately to get them to like him, at least this might help introduce Big Nog to some of the newer fans of the sport. Next thing you know all the kids will be going crazy for the butterfly guard. Don’t think it can’t happen.

This makes very little sense....
Mir is booked to fight Justin McCully at UFC 86 in July....although I'm very confident he will win, what if he doesn't. And secondly...wouldn't they start filming the 8th season before the 5th of July? That's like 4 months away.
Also, if Werdum beats Vera at 85 he is much more deserving that Mir. I'm a big fan of Mir to, but he hasn't even fought a top heavyweight in the UFC and beat him since Sylvia.
I really don't understand this at all if it's true. Although I really wouldn't complain that much cause I'm a big fan of Nog and Mir, but Werdum would just be so much more deserving that Mir.....

What if Mir loses to McCully? And isn't the winner of Vera/Werdum supposed to be next in line? Pardon my skepticism, but it just doesn't seem to make sense...
EDIT: silvawand beat me to it.

well IF this is the case i do not like the idea, i think the next tuf season needs some good HW's but i don't like waiting so long for title fights, and with nog as champion i want to see him defend fairly often. I doubt this will happen but we will see what happens

A Mir/Nog fight is interesting but it really seems like a couple odd choices for TUF, I mean there are many more marquee fighters to chose for coachs that said maybe that is the point, TUF has really taken on a life of its own at this point and I dont think who is coaching is important anymore, at this stage coachs could be given mainstream credibility by being on the show rather than giving the show credibility.

does anyone even see mir beating nog? I mean mir is a tough dude, but nog is a god on the ground and has some pretty crisp boxing the two as coaches is intriguing but the fight itself seems one sided to me

Rampage and Wanderlei have probably the most bitter rivalry in the sports history. It would've been like TUF 3 only 3x more violent and out of control
