I can see the same thing happening to BJ that happen to Serra. Sherk looks like he is gonna be in better shape than GSP was and lets face it Penn's not in the best shape of the division. Although against Pulver he did look much better.

I see Sean Sherk running through Penn unless of course the Prodigy catches a sub

i don't see sherk running through bj at all

i've thought about this fight so much, rewatched every fight I have of both fighters, and I can't say I think either fighter has the advantage stylistically when you put all the pieces together.

This fight is tailor made for excitement. You can have opinions about who is the best LW's in the world, but if you ask me, we're seeing the #1 and #2 in a dream fight

I agree with you expect for one part. I think BJ has the edge here. To me BJ wins in every aspect except Cardio and Take Downs. BJ has better striking, more power in his strikes, he has better TDD, better BJJ, and a better chin.

Even with all of that going for him, I still see this fight as a CLOSE match up. (As you can tell) I'm hoping Penn pulls this off, but the later in the fight it gets, the more Sherk has the odds of winning it.

I see nobody in the UFC that is going to have Sherk's conditioning (I'm not a fan of Sherk's either). What was his RHR (resting heart rate) like in the 40's? That is crazy. Not even GSP (and he was in tip top shape). None-the-less its gonna be an exciting fight, I might have to buck up and get the ppv.

chin advantage to bj? i dunno if we have enough evidence to compare really....that knee franca landed was one of hardest strikes i've ever seen someone recover that fast.

I think if BJ wants his best shot at Sherk, he needs to work takedowns and sweeps almost exclusively. BJ does have better: stand-up, bjj, and takedown defense... but Sherk has great cardio, GnP, and takedowns.

I think BJ would "shock the world" if he was able to takedown the wrestler. Make Sherk work off his back just like GSP and Hughes did. If he can't take Sherk down, his sweeps could make all the difference. Being on the receiving end of Sherk's GnP isn't terrible for 1 round... it's taking it for 2 or 3 rounds that makes it tough. In this 5 round fight, BJ needs to show his dominance early and take the cardio factor away as well as the takedowns.

Either way it'll be exciting, but I want BJ to punish Sherk for no reason other than BJ is more versatile.

This fight has been by far the fight I have most looked forward too for a long time. Sherk at 155...WOW. I don't think BJ can stuff Sherk's takedown's at all. I also don't think Sherk is going to give BJ anytime to get any striking going. Look what he did to Florian. I wouldn't be surprised if BJ doesn't injure himself again while scrambling from the bottom ala his Hughes rematch. I know how good BJ is at defending the takedown but Sherk at 155 is far more explosive then Hughes at 170. As much as I want BJ to win, I don't see it happening. I think we are going to see 25 mins of Sherk looking busy on top of Penn without doing any significant damage. I am afraid that on Sunday morning we will all be saying "If only BJ could have kept it standing for a little bit...."
