For all you Starnes haters, he explains everything!
I hate to steal things from Sherdog, but this is from his account and is a statement from the forum. I am glad he talked about his fight. I think he is a talented fighter, but is a little small for MW. Hopefully he moves down to WW. Anyways here is the link and a paragraph of his own words of his account on Sherdog. Feel free to click and read the rest of his own words. He has a lot of good things to say and had no excuses.
"I was never on any Montreal radio show. If anyone knows what radio show that I allegedly appeared on, or has any recording of it or any evidence of it whatsoever I would love to know about it. So far I've only heard rumors and allegations. I did not throw the fight, the fight was not a protest against the UFC.
I will say again what I've said before; I had the game plan of circling and moving to stay out of exchanges and to work off of my jab because he hits so hard, to avoid the clinch because he was very strong and I'd taken knees and elbows there in my previous fight, and to throw some kicks as the fight wore on.
I threw 35 punches in the first round and I would have thrown a lot more had I landed any of them, but I found him very difficult to hit and he was counter punching whenever I would step in, with one of those counter punches almost dropping me early. Most of my takedowns come out of the clinch and when I tried to switch it up and get position in the clinch to take him down I couldn't do it because he seemed much stronger than me."
So basically what he is saying is that Quarry was much stronger, not exactly news, and much tougher, also not exactly news so he ran away the whole fight. I don't know why you hope he moves down a weight class, I hope he moves careers. If his foot was that bad he should have thrown in the towel at the end of the first round instead of embarassing himself and the UFC like that.
What shocked me the most was not that he fell back the entire fight.
What shocked me was that he continued to fall back the entire third when he was clearly down both rounds.
If you're down 2 rounds to none, don't you start to realize it's time to take a chance and go for broke? At that point you don't have anything to lose.
I'm not a fighter. Do I just not "get it"?

He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. He got plenty of guff for throwing in the towel over his rib injury against Kendall Grove on TUF, so obviously that's not ok with fans, either. Apparently the only way he could have retained respect in people's eyes is to walk into Quarry's strikes and get KO'ed.

That's not true at all. He put up one of the worst performances in history, only one person has ever gotten worse than a 30-24 in the UFC. He offered no form of offense, he didn't even put up a legitimate form of defense. He just ran. How can we respect that?

or...you know...actually showed any kind of offense at all....

His first two rounds weren't all that bad. And like I said, if he'd thrown in the towel in the third he still would have gotten no respect. Although people might have been less angry because he wouldn't have wasted their time, and Nate wouldn't have clowned on him like that... so throwing in the towel is what he should have done. I guess he didn't realize how awful that last round was going to look with his inability to offer an offense.

It seemed to me that the few takedowns that he try weren't even with heart and if that was due to his injuries then he should have thrown in the towel. I guess when you're in front of millions of people your brain is stressed, but I would think his corner would of sensed or noticed something wrong with him.
Perhaps he should move down in weight, but I don't think that would be good with his height.
