Who are some fighters that you feel are in the wrong weight classes? To me, it would have to be Brandon Vera. I love watching him fight, but I think he would perform much better at LHW. So who are some other fighters that you feel should drop/go up in weight class?

I wonder if Tito Ortiz could make 185? I can see him him giving Anderson Silva fits. He cant beat Chuck, He squeaked by Forrest and he cant beat Rampage. Light heavyweight in the UFC is a hopeless cause for him. But hes leaving so it dosnt matter.

Yeah everyone is saying Vera could do great at 205, which he could, but he is also doing great at HW so why move? LHW is much more stacked than HW at the moment so as long as he can hang with the big guys I would.

I'm kind of surprised to see these guys listed: Frank Mir, Justin McCully, Gabriel Gonzaga, Mirko Cro Cop, Forrest Griffin, and Tito Ortiz. The reason why I am surprised is because none of these guys could ever drop down a weight class except maybe Cro Cop but he has came out and said before that he can't.

My fighters are:

Rashad Evans to Middleweight

Frankie Edgar to Featherweight

Dustin Hazelett and Matt Serra to Lightweight

hopefully UFC will have a featherweight class soon so he can do that

I don't understand why people are so preoccupied about debating a fighters weight class. I believe it is disrespectful to the fighters and undermines the elite image that the UFC portrays.
It is more relevant to discuss why a fighter chooses to fight at a certain weight rather than speculating that they would be better in a different class.
On a different thread when someone said that "Lesnar could make LHW" I realized that debating weight classes was getting ridiculous.

Lyoto Machida is not soft, but he is definately a small Light Heavyweight who I think could make the cut to Middleweight. Just wait until you see him side-by-side with Tito Ortiz at the weigh ins, then you'll see how small of a Light Heavyweight he is. The problem with Lyoto moving down to Middleweight is that the Champion Anderson Silva is his good friend and training partner, and both men have stated that they would not want to fight each other.

Crocop at 205
vera at 205
rashad at 185
serra lw
machida 185

guys in the right class that people seem to be odd about.

Soko isnt any bigger than me (i met him) and i fight at 185
dan henderson is smaller than me. (met him too) and has never weighed 205.
nog's listed at 6'3'' 235, but he looks alot bigger than that in person.
if wand cut to 185, it would destroy his style, plus the guy has been fighting at 205 and dominating for a decade.
id almost never say a fighter should go up in weight, its stupid, cant hand with smaller guys dont **** with bigger ones.

SOme of you guys are TOTALLY clueless! DO you guys have any idea the size of some these guys?? You guys just throw names out and weights like its no big deal to ge to these weights.

Forrest at 185? Are u serious? He is a ginormus LHW. He is like 240-245 when off.

Tito at 185?? Again, he is about 230-240 when off as well.

CroCop at 205?? He has just put on like 15 pounds of muscle. He looks to be a SOLID 230-235.

My favorite...Gonzaga at 205. He is a freak! He is huge genetically. His bones dense and is a big 250. LOL at 205.

You guys just can arbitralliary (sp?) pick out a weight category and a fighter and think they can hit it! Some of you guys have no idea.

some of you guys are ridiculously obsessed with height. Just because you have a shorter man in a weight class does not mean he doesnt belong there. Sherk, Paulo Filho, Wandy, Shogun, Monson, Serra, ect. all make waves in their weight classes and are shorter than many other fighters. shorter stature can give great center of gravity and grappling advantages, striking isnt everything. the only reason why some of these guys should drop (I think some of them should stay or even move up, however) would be the amount of weight they put on between weigh ins and the actual fight.

Sherk- move back up to 170 you were dominant there too
Serra-stay
Monson-stay and maintain your wrestling and strength advantage over practically every other heavyweight
Shogun- stay
Wandy- stay, or move down just for matchups

I'm just saying he's a more dominant fighter at 155, than a 170. At 170, he's a little ball of muscle, just like Manny G. All the other fighters in the top 5, maybe even top 10 at 170 would run over Sherk. I don't really care what his record at 170 is, if he's only beating the lower ranked fighters, that doesn't make him a good WW. Decent yes, good, no.

The UFC should take a step towards making more divisions. Maybe in 10-15 pound increments?
i don't know about that...I think that'll stretch out the pool of fighters too much. There will be too many champions to count, and Anderson Silva, GSP, Nog would hold multiple titles. Too costly to produce more belts, I think they cost something like 1000 bucks a pop???idk.
