Fighters in the Wrong Weight Class.

Who are some fighters that you feel are in the wrong weight classes? To me, it would have to be Brandon Vera. I love watching him fight, but I think he would perform much better at LHW. So who are some other fighters that you feel should drop/go up in weight class?

Call me crazy, but CroCop at 205 would own. He's small enough to make it with no problem.

Definately vera, edgar, serra imo.

Maybe wandy. We'll see what happens against jardine.

Could be controversial but Kampmann would be a beast at WW! he looks light for a MW. if he could somehow cut that extra 15 pounds he would be a monster in that division.

Aleks probably had the worst game plan for CC. Standing right in front of CroCop waiting to get kicked in the head wasn't the best strategy.

But yeah, there aren't many guys at 205 that could muscle him around.

Crocop should definitly drop to 205 and come back to the UFC, would be great to see em in that stacked division... Brandon Vera is another fighter that comes to mind; both these guys are around 220lbs and makeing 205 would be a snap...

Hmm you guys already rounded out the rest like Serra at LW and so on...

Heh, technically all fighters that cut-weight are in the wrong weight class lol jk,

Crocop said the only way he could drop to 205 was if someone chopped one of his legs off. I remember reading it in an interview maybe a month ago.

Big Nog needs to drop to LHW and impersonate his brother so he can win the LHW title. Then he could announce it was him all along and he now owns both titles. Big Nog FTW!!

Frank Mir - LHW
Since the motorcycle accident, Mir's looked bigger... but not in the good way. Even in his high-profile fight against Lesnar, he was out of shape. I don't think he needs to be in the LHW ranks necessarily, but if he'd get strict on dieting and cardio I don't think making 205 would be hard for him.

BJ Penn - WW
He's in the right weightclass right now. But given his history with the welterweights, I'd love to see him mix it up with GSP again. If he came into those WW fights in-shape and just managed to put on some muscle, he'd dominate. However, I don't think that's how BJ would make that weight... he'd probably just eat a few extra Doritos... skip the sauna and call it a day.

Lyoto Machida - MW
I don't think Machida should drop down now that he's so far up the ladder, but I think he easily could.

Justin McCully - LHW
He trains with Tito yet he's been in terrible shape in every fight I've seen of his. He's 235 out-of-shape so it wouldn't be a stretch to see him get down to 205. As soon as he gets thrown into the octagon with Gonzaga, Kongo, or Herring he's going to get whomped and realize how much smaller he really is.

Vitor Belfort - MW
Since Joe Silva at least expressed some interest in bringing Vitor back to the UFC by meeting with him... maybe Vitor could sneak into the thin middleweight division (I realize he'd have to lose some muscle mass). Leben v Belfort, Bisping v Belfort, Franklin v Belfort. Any of those sound like fun fights to me, assuming the good ol' explosive Vitor shows up.

My boy Brandon Vera would cause quite a few ripples in the melting pot that is the LHW division. However, he's already stated he wasn't going to, but not because he couldn't, rather he didn't want to alter his diet. If only Oreos tasted more like manure...

Dan Henderson at 205 - he should remain at 185, he looked way too small at LHW against anyone.

Wanderlei Silva at 205 - definitely needs to move down to MW

Matt Serra at 170 - he's way too stocky, slimming back down to 155 would help him a lot

Lyoto Machida at 205
- I think he's great at 205 but he could be the definite #2 fighter at 185 lbs, next to or even surpassing Anderson Silva :dunno:

BJ Penn at 170
- he's good where he's at right now, I don't think his conditioning can be nearly as good if he's packing on 170.

P.S. I think Mirko's a pretty decent sized HW, he doesn't need to be dropping any weight.

weightclass mismatch

I'd have to say that these fighters should cut down a weightclass:

Wanderlei Silva: go down to MW
Brandon Vera: go down to LHW
Matt Serra: go down to LW
Chris Leben: should go down to WW, but kicks ass in MW
Rashad Evans: down to MW
Jason Lambert: down to MW
Gabriel Gonzaga: cut down to LHW, that would be crazy!
Eddie Sanchez: cut to LHW.

Soky to HW, damn guy looks huge I cant believe he even makes 205

Sera definatly to LW,

Wandy to MW not because he cant hang but because the MW division needs him, same for Hendo,

Franklin to LHW, at least until Anderson Silva drops that strap.

Keith Jardine to HW, the fact is he is lost in the shuffle of the LHW division right now but he does have the size to fight at HW and I think he could do better there as far as moving up the card.

Lyoto is perfectly suited for 205 and even if he could cut, why would he? He is good friends with Silva so he wouldnt be willing to fight him for the belt, whereas at 205 he should be able to get the title.

Just imagine:
Nog as HW champ
Lyoto as LHW champ
Silva as MW champ

It would be a great day for brazilian fighters

anderson silva at 205 - he's pretty damn invincible in the middleweight division. henderson is the only guy close to him, so silva needs to move up if he wants a challange. a fight between a.silva and rampage would be huge.

chuck liddell at 206-265 - lets be honest, chuck liddel isn't exactly young at 37, cutting weight must take alot out of him. chuck walks around at 230 or so, he wouldn't be all that small for a heavywegiht. randy couture went up and improved tremendously without cutting.

dan henderson at 205 - dan henderson is world class when he doesn't cut weight. he did very well against rampage, and with the right gameplan could possibly beat him. plus i'd love to see an A.silva vs henderson rematch at 205.
