What's TUF show place in MMA history?

MMA is still in it's infancy compared to other sports. I was wondering what your opinions are when it's all said and done about The Ultimate Fighter shows place in history.

Discuss.

It basically led to the survival and golden age of MMA. Without TUF the UFC and mma in general (at least in North America) would be dead.

Dana White and the Fertittas said that since they were hemorrhaging soo much money that it was their final attempt to make the UFC work. If the TUF didn't succed on cable tv they were dead in the water. They would have either have sold it off or would have folded it.

I think when it's all said and done TUF will be looked at as a moderate success. Its done three major things IMO that are pretty big.
1.It has educated probably millions about what MMA is, but I would say only a few take enough interest to become 'hardcore' fans just from watching the show.
2.It has brought along some very solid fighters and young talent.
3.It's showed the wide range of great personalities whereas some people used to think every fighter was some 'trashy' street thug.
