Jonathan Goulet recently confirmed to MMA Weekly that he was forced to withdraw his name from his upcoming fight against Paul Kelly at UFC 85 due to health reasons. Goulet just fought at UFC 83 and defeated Kuniyoshi Hironaka in the "fight of the night". However, he made no mention of what kind of injury he is suffering from.
I like Goulet but does anyone else feel that he's ducking Paul? I have a feeling he is becuase I think Paul would have taken him down and either TKO'd Goulet or grinded out a decision.
If he was going to duck him couldn't he have just refused the fight in the first place as he only just fought. Wouldn't have been unreasonable given he had damn good fight at 83. Think Paul would have probly won as well. But accepting a fight you could have easily and reasonably refused cos of the time frame and then ducking out doesnt make much sense
Afterthought? maybe. But would have thought he would have put some time into thinking about a fight on such short notice. guess we'll never know, unless he says he wants to reschedule it.
Way is it when I fighter has to pull out for health reasons people assume they are ducking him?:confused02: Almost everytime people bring that up and it turns out to be bull!
Lol some of you guys are talking as if kelly is a wrestler, Goulet is most probably a bit scared but maybe has fatigue as well as he fought at UFC 83. Kelly has better stand up than goulet, ground game and chin. Goulet would have lost but I cant blame him for pulling out, if he isnt going to be 100% or he is injured why should he fight? Hopefully Kelly still fights though.
Goulet looked like he took quite a bit of damage at 83 so I am not suprised by this. Better for him to pull out than to lose and then make excuses about not being 100%. Besides we probably wouldnt have been able to see this on the PPV anyways so no big loss. There are still 7 SOLID matches on this card.
You know i'm surprised nobody else has brought that up. Good call. He did take a lot of damage. Goulet is a good guy. I can't see him ducking. These guys train and fight hard so injuries happen.
hmmm, it feels like, with all this crap happening and bad luck... that all the bad vibes and negative expectations are leading to something really cool and unexpectedly awesome!
I actually like the cards that look mediocre at the outset, and here's why:
You've got a card full of middle tier guys who are gonna give it everything they have with the chance that they might break into the elite or get into Title Contention or whatnot. Sometimes, when there have been epic cards where 2 Top 10 guys face each other, I've been a little let down. :dunno:
Well looking at the match ups...looks like a fun event...but i would rather see this for free.
