UFC Lightweight with the best shot at unseating BJ
With his physical gifts and natural talent, Penn's so tough to train for. Stevenson and Sherk couldn't solve him.
There are cardio machines in the weight class who might be able to outlast BJ, but few can match him standing and I would guess that even fewer can take him down.
There are plenty of great fighters at 155, with the the Florian-Huerta winner apparently getting the next shot. Griffin's not far off. Maynard's making some noise. Hell, even Clementi's got a case if he can beat one of the top guys.
But can any of them beat the prodigy? Who can?

I can't really see anybody beating BJ...As far as LW's.
I picked Florian as the best chance of beating him.

You don't have sherk on the poll so I didn't vote.
Even though sherk lost I think he has the best chance at beating BJ. If he came in with a better gameplan and took him down from the start instead of standing with him then I think he could have gotten a decision by working GnP for the whole fight.

BJ Penn could be the best LW ever. He could lose to anyone, but I don't see him ever losing a trilogy in the LW div unless someone seriously steps up and takes there game to the next level. I really like Florian and Huerta but I have little faith that they will be effective against BJ. He has a solid chin, no scar tissue, and has improved cardio, what more can you ask for from BJ? I'd like to see him fight the Japanese LWs Akoi and kid yamamoto, but he'd probably walk through them too.

Well, I would have, but since he just lost to BJ I put some other guys on the list. Unfortunately there are only eight poll options available, or else I would have included some other guys as well.

Ya I know. You picked some good guys but I don't think any of them right now have what it takes to beat BJ. I think Sherk will be the one to do it if anyone can he just needs to stick to what works for him and not try to strike with someone who is a better striker.

It is hard to say. It's between Griffin and Florian. So I went with Griffin. Florian himself said if BJ moves up to fight St.Pierre that he should fight Griffin for the title.
