that sounds a bit dangerous. Gotta play it safe and just keep matt at bay for 5 full rounds. That's hard as hell even for someone as talented as gsp. Fight of the year coming

GSP will beat Hughes handily. Hughes will try to stand for a while until he realizes he is outmatched. If he hasn;t lost yet he will try to take it to the mat and fail. Then, St. Pierre will TKO him by a knee to the fadce and follow up with strikes. Big John steps in and Matt's twin, Sylvia, Rich, Pat, Spencer, Jeremy and God himself all cry because he lost.

I think he's talented and needs to only work on his stand-up some more.

He's already got the record (tied with Tito?)for most title defends (4) and this win will make it 5!

I've seen all the TUF episodes and didn't find him to be a cocky as most of you. The cocky one is that loud-mouth Matt Serra. Why is he spouting off on people, he's not on the same level as Hughes, BJ-Penn, OR GSP.

I guess what I'm saying is that he doesn't have antics like Tito (flipping people off, digging graves) he doesn't wear his belt around ALL THE TIME (Tim S.) and he's successfully defended 5 belt matches.

Say what you will about the lack of talent in HW or MW.. but c'mon -Who in Pride would CRUSH him? No one. It might be a good fight, but it won't be a beating like Franklin took.

He's a winner in my book.
they dont have a 170 lb weight class though. unless im crazy.

im actually pulling for hughes on this one. also in reality he is not as cocky as most of you think he is. He is actualy very humble, sometimes he just acts like a jackass in front of the cameras

PRIDE FC Weight classes

It should be noted that PRIDE Fighting Championships does NOT divide their fighters with weight divisons, a fighter may be booked to fight an opponent of any weight class. Weight divisions are only used for championship title bouts to crown a champion among that weight class.

* Heavyweight (more than or equal to 93 kg / 205 lb)
* Middleweight (less than 93 kg / 205 lb)
* Welterweight (less than 83 kg / 183 lb)
* Lightweight (less than 73 kg / 160 lb)
i think gomi could give him a run for his money

I never have understood why some have said Hughes is cocky. Never has seemed that way to me. He seems proud, and you can't blame him. He has a nice firm record in mma. But never cocky

I don't think GSP meant to be cocky in that statement to Hughes. He seems very humble and nice. It was probably just his honest opinion

Anyone who disagrees with the last sentence is insane. Hughes IS the number 1 170lber in the world. I prefer BJ and GSP as fighters, but I'm not trying to take anything away from Matt hughs. It hink Matt is one cocky SOB, and I think he's allowed to be.

Aslo about GSP's comment. I took it a completely different way. I thought he was praising Matt hughes...that is "i'm dissappointed you gave such a bad performance when I KNOW you're such an amazing fighter"
