Why isnt there the same hate rising up against Forrest?
This wasnt the Forrest of old, this was the Forrest that moved in and out, engaged on his terms, took the fight where he wanted it, took his opponent out of his comfort zone... ie. just like what Machida did.

this guys name is accurate. what an attention whore
if you hadnt noticed forrest is not getting love, a select few( people like myself) are trying to defend him, in no way is he getting much love
also, forrest griffin was the aggressor almost the entire fight, he also had better octagon control

I suck at stating quotes this is what I mean.
Forrest engaged with Rampage and then backed out, before repeating. Machida would stay back and keep staying back untill he found some kind of opening.

Forrest did fight somewhat Machidaesque, but he didn't fight just like Machida.
The proof is in the pudding. Forrest got hit too often!

Exactly! Forrest forges ahead, then twists away; Machida thinks about it, then seems to think better of it.

The answer: I doubt it highly, it seems to me that you may not be entertained by his style(many are not) but either way he keeps winning and imo if Tito wanted he could have backed up and let Lyoto come to him, he didnt cuz Tito instead walked into Dana's assasins trap, the trap was the following machida around the cage and being countered, and IF Tito did back off its my opinion that Machida would have thrown very technical and well placed strikes and still won that fight... remember as you say you think Wandy would chase him down.....Wandy is running a huge risk of getting caught on the way in..thats Machida's style!
|
Yeah but the key differences I see between Tito and Wandy is Wandy is not looking for the takedown, has insane KO power and has a really strong chin in that he wouldnt care if Machida countered his aggression with a couple punches so long as he would be able to return them with some of his own punches. Also I am not too sure as to how comfortable Machida would be in throwing counterpunches and being semi-open to retaliation by someone with as devastating of a punch as Wandy.

Whatever buddy.
I chose the name cause it was the first thing I saw on the back of an aerosol can when I registered.
Before you claim Im an 'attention whore'...how about doing a quick search on my past posts... the last thing I do is stir crap up... whatever loser, get your facts straight before you take your shot.
Forrest is getting more love than Machida ever did... IMHO, its because of his exposure on TUF... which is really sad.
BTW, I never said he shouldnt have won... he totally did deserve the win.
But because people 'wanted' him to win... and he does... doesnt make the fight 'action packed'.
Its just the desired outcome of a fan favorite.
Its like Couture/Silvia fight... that was one hella boring fight. If it was two other joe fighters, people would have been bored to tears... but because it was Captain American versus the human sloth, it was 'exciting'.

ya ..it can get pretty boring to watch that kind of fight sometimes. I know that a fighter has a game plan to stick to but that fight just didn't seem to have "champion" stamped to it at the end. i think there is some unfinished business from last night.

I like Machidas style. He's a super smart fighter.
Forrest was sticking and moving. But he was sticking alot.
Machida is just elusive, and doesn't engage as often.

yeah but machida has power behind his strikes so he can drop some one at any given time. Forest on the other hand doesnt have that ability so he has to constantly work and fish for stuff.

First off I dont hate LYoto, but come on.
Forrest has had some exciting fights.
Bonner
Jardine
Shogun
He stands and trades and even submits. He is a totally diffrent figthes style wise. He does not back away the whole fight. Stupid thread!
