All this Love for Forrest...
... but its only hate for Machida...
yet they both used the same strategy to win.
Neither was looking to take risks to end the fight.
Why isnt there the same hate rising up against Forrest?
This wasnt the Forrest of old, this was the Forrest that moved in and out, engaged on his terms, took the fight where he wanted it, took his opponent out of his comfort zone... ie. just like what Machida did.

Exactly, great observation. Hell, at least the guys Lyoto fights usually look like they've been put through a grinder afterwards. Rampage only had a bruised leg, and that's about it.

dont compare Forrest to Machida. Forrest had a very exciting fight last night and id bet my lifes savings that that would not be said today if it was machida in the octagon instead of forrest.

Umm, were we watching the same fight? I garuntee you that Machida would not of rushed Rampage the way Forrest did. And besides Forrest was using a stratagy called hit and run. Not Lyoto's famous stratagy of keep backing up and hitting.

Yeah I would say Forrest has had some boring fights but NEARLY as many as Machida... Machida takes the cake on awful drawn out fights. LAst time I checked Forrest has a few, kind of good/so so fights under his belt =)

Forrest would engage, then reset. Machida barely engages, period.
Forrest did fight somewhat Machidaesque, but he didn't fight just like Machida.
The proof is in the pudding. Forrest got hit too often!

Not really. Machida is way more elusive than what Forrest was doing last night.
Forrest was engaging alot more than most Machida fights. He was using the same lateral movement, but not nearly as much.
I like Machidas style. He's a super smart fighter.
Forrest was sticking and moving. But he was sticking alot.
Machida is just elusive, and doesn't engage as often.

While I do agree with your statement, you cannot forget that Forrest's old method wasn't working out for him in his past few fights before Shogun. He needed to not be so aggressive to the point where blood is pouring out of his face by the end of the first round.
