Dana is such a hater.

Can hardly blame him, though. It has to sting a little when a start-up promotion kicks your a$$ with their first show.

Wow! Is Sylvia really worth 800 000? And Arlovski, 750 000?

I'm sorry, that was such a waste of money...particularly Arlovski.

Dana is right, they'll inevitably go under with these type of paychecks. They're not yet the UFC.

They would need around 200000 PPV buys to break even. I don't the production cost, but assuming they get 50% of the PPV, at 25$ per buy, that's 5 million bucks. Taking into account the production cost, which is 1-2 million and the PPV cut of Fedor (he should have one, earning only 300k). And that's what UFN: Silva vs Irvin was all about: taking out as many buyrates as possible so Affliction go bankrupt.

Yeah I saw him on the press conference and he was truly annoying me when he kept saying how they will go bankrupt and have no future. I'm sick of DW blasting all other organizations and trying to practically sabotage them. Instead of doing that he should really look at how the other organizations are getting together and making their champs fight each other (ie: the Shamrock- Chung Lee fight)

Overall, I think if the UFC keeps trying to bully those other Organizations around, they will eventually bite more than they can handle and lose out in the long run.

This past Saturday's "Affliction: Banned" event drew a total attendance of 14,832 -- a small increase from the night's announced attendance of 13,988 -- for a live gate of $2,085,510.

Of the 14,832 total tickets, 11,242 were sold, and 3,590 were complimentary and given away."

EDIT: And for comparison sake UFC 84(which was believed to be the highest promotion before this) came in at $1,098,000.

Trump is paying for it all and he makes that back in 1 day's work. He said he does this because he loves the sport, it's a hobby to him.

Also if they have another event, I don't think anyone will make 800,000 for a fight. Chances are we will never see Sylvia in Affliction again.

For the morons: Trump doesn't expect a profit, he does this for fun

Dana might be a douche on occassion, but he's no fool.

Fedor mauls Tim Sylvia in 35 secs and yet the bigger buzz has gone to Silva cutting up a less prestigious Irvin!

LOL! Dana's skillful.

Of course he expects a profit, he's just willing to take a hit in the shortrun with an eye towards future profits.

I love MMMA fans....

First, MMA fighters aren't getting paid enough.
Now, they are getting paid too much.

Also, I love it when people think it's bullshit when a UFC fighter gets paid below 10k, but looks like there were a few fighters here who got less than 7k.

"When I hear athletes call themselves warriors, it does bother me a little bit. When I think of a warrior, I think of the Marines I've led in combat, those Marines that sacrificed so much...no showers, little food, no contact with their family, all for their love for their brother Marine and for their love for their country. That's a warrior, willing to lay his life on the line. I've had Marines that have laid their lives on the line for the man next to him, and for their family and country. That's a warrior. The guy who goes into some athletic contest who has no war experience, in my eyes, really has no right to call himself that. That's a coveted thing to call someone, and that's what I call my Marines. Those are warriors." - Brian Stann

You're funny.

Oh, and this is actually why he's involved himself:
