i think Maz fell victim to Umpire Syndrome. To me... he hadn't officially stopped the fight when he said 'stop' but that's just my opinion. In any event, once the facts were clear and he had seen the replay on the big screen... it should have been changed to a DQ even if he had previously been of the opinion that the uppercut landed. i thought it was the uppercut too when i first saw it but the replay was crystal clear that it was an eye poke with no landed punch.

dunno what the rules are for refs reguarding reversing a call... but they should be able to admit to making a mistake right on the spot if they decide to do so.

Here's my take. If any of you have taken a GOOD eye poke, you know that it makes it VERY difficult to fight effectively - between blurry and double vision, you're going to suck.

Since the guy had REPEATEDLY poked him in the eye, having been warned about it, if he keeps doing it until the guy can't fight, then it should be a DQ.

After the fight, he acted like it was nothing, and it wasn't his fault because he'd broken his wrist a few times. Well, too bad, that doesn't hold water. He is a professional fighter, and when he steps in the ring, it is *his responsibility* to make sure that he follows the safety rules. If he is incapable of following the safety rules, then he shouldn't be in the ring.

Defecato, ergo sum.

I never want to see Kevin Burns fight again until his hand heals up and he can make a fist with it. I don't care how much heart, skill, yada yada yada this guy has because he can't make a fist and punch. That's all that needs to be missing to DQ the most talented person in the world from fighting IMO. It was comedic the way Rogan was like "Umm...huh? Come again? You can't make a fist?"

I hated watching that fight because it was obvious that the guy should have been DQed. Damn, seeing those pictures of Johnson's eye pissed me off. F*CK Kevin Burns, he can be the dangerous gas station attendant/Burger King server no one should rob for all I care. Get his ass out of the UFC!!!!!

A groan of tedium escapes me...

and mazagati once again is responsible for screwing up as a ref..... i think its time his reffing is looked into more closely, whenever he's the ref there seems to be some problem that happens. With that many warnings should have been a DQ his job is to protect the fighters safety which he didn't do because he continued to let the eye pokes happen with out ever even taking a point away.

I was looking for a DQ nevermind a No Contest. He was warned about the eye pokes.

I think he did a horrible job. I thought he stood the fight up too many times and didn't do anything to protect Johnson.

Mazz, the worst ref in MMA. What happened to him?

He used to be better than this.
