Alves/Sanchez moved to UFC 90

UFC president Dana White, in speaking to the Chicago Sun Times on Monday, announced an Oct. 25 date in confirming UFC 90 for the Allstate Arena in Chicago. He did not confirm any bouts for the event.

UFC 90 follows one week after the UFC 89 show in England. UFC 89 is currently still rumored to be a free show on Spike TV, but again, there is no confirmation for that yet from the UFC.

Alves and Sanchez were set to be part of the co-main event for UFC 89, but the promotion decided to push up the light heavyweight bout between Thiago Silva and Lyoto Machida as the other headliner behind the main event featuring Michael Bisping vs. Chris Leben.

It is now believed that the Alves vs. Sanchez fight will be part of the main event set up for the card in Chicago for UFC 90, but no other fights have been rumored or announced as of yet.

I know some people were asking where this fight was going to take place with the Silva/Machida fight as the co-main event for UFC 89. I still got Alves.

I've never seen Alves fight before but i remember Diego Sanchez from TUF and after watching his most recent fight i can tell you that Sanchez is a much improved, technical, and focused fighter right now. Again, i dont really know anything about Alves's fight style since ive never seen him (or at least dont remember him) but im definitely looking forward to this fight at least just to see Diego in action.

EDIT: I just watched Thiago Alves beat Matt Hughes and this guy looks like a pretty good fighter and hes stronger than Diego. IT should be a great fight, and now im really looking forward to it.

I figured that is what they would do since Dana has already somewhat confirmed the fight between Diego and Alves (was on a local radio station here talking about it).

But I will be taking Diego!

Gonzaga vs dos Santos - UFC on VS
Vera vs Jones - UFC on VS
Bibs vs Hansen - Dream 13
GSP vs Hardy - UFC 112
Gomi vs Florian - UFN 21
Nelson vs Struve - UFN 21

I'm rooting for Diego, Alves is in the wrong division as has become the norm for to many fighters. Not a fan of Diego either so this is a win win for me and I think I'm going to head to the All State Arena to watch this fight, it's literally 2 stop lights from my work.

I think Diego will get this fight to the ground an submit him.

Thiago is good but I think he will have trouble with Sanchez who I think can beat anyone he can get to the ground.
