The article forgot to mention one more thing in Forests favor: Randy Couture. I guarantee you Randy would put together a stellar gameplan for Forest if this fight were to happen. IMO Randy's gameplan was a major factor in Forest winning the belt from Rampage. He would make sure Forest was more than prepared.

I love Anderson, I think he's the best 185er in the world, second P4P behind Fedor, but I do think, and my gut is telling me, that Forrest would take it.

agreed. Silva has said in interviews that the lhw belt is Lyoto's so i cannot see him campaigning to get a shot ahead of his friend and training partner.

The last thing I want to happen is a Pride like situation where champions are involved in repeated non title fights. The only reason this one happened was an emergency counter programming move by UFC against Affliction.

All it does is tie up the belts and if Silva were to fight for the LHW belt and win which one would he keep? There's no way he can defend both belts because there would only be like 1 championship fight for each belt a year. It's just a stupid move to let him challenge for the LHW belt. Hopefully he sticks to what he said about it being Lyoto's division to win.
I do think he should let machida get a shot first but silva said he wants to fight six times a year. That could be 3 title defences a year for each belt.

Doubt this would happen tho.

There's no way Silva could fight 6 times a year. There aren't enough events to do that. Every single event would either be Silva defending a belt or 2 guys fighting for the number 1 contender's spot for either weight class. All we would ever see would be MW and LHW fights to determine who got to fight Silva. It would just end up being beyond stupid and would turn into a giant mess.

I love how everyone saying how Forrest will get killed. Sound so much like the comments when it was Rampage vs Forrest.

I have one problem. Forrest could make this a stellar match. But he will use a stratagy simular to his stratagy against Rampage. And of course when that happwns we will get MORE threads about:

"Why is Lyoto being booed, when Forrest comences with the same stratagy?!?!"

I am just saying silva told dana that he wants to fight 6 times a year. Gonna be hard to do that.

Right now we only have about 2 maybe 3 title defences in one year at each weight class and thats pushing it.

Not that hard if his fights last 1-10 minutes and he comes out of them unharmed.

The problem would be the changes between 205 and 185.
