Is there something I dont see in Chris Leben?!
Why is it that he keeps getting second chance fights to better his career? I dont see what is so great about him. Its almost like he's Dana's secret lover or something. He's a better than average fighter, but thats about it. In his last 6 fights he's 3-3. He totally outclassed by Silva (but who isn't), then get choked out by Jason MacDonald and then loses unanimously to Kalib Starnes. Regardless of all of that... he's the main event for UFC89 against Bisping? Sorry but I just dont think he should be getting anymore chances. I dont want to see him as a main event in anything. Hope I'm not alone in this, but its time UFC got some new talent.

It's cause Bisping is in the main event he's in it. Since Dana is trying to promote bisping more then anything
+ Chris's style of brawling does attract the more casual fans, + a lot of ppl know him due to the Ultimate Fighter 1
He might not be the greatest fighter, but he is entertaining
+ i think its a co main event now cause there are a lot of good fights on UFC 89 now
Jardine v Vera
Bisping v. Leben
Sherk v. Tyson Griffin
Machida v. Thiago Silva
Sokki v. Luis Cane
Probably one of the best all around cards, while nothing AMAZING like griffin jackson, the card as a whole is looking really good

It's probably his willingness to brawl, takes shots and put on a good show. Like you said he's better than average so that's a good recipe for marketing. Now Suizida brings up a good point in the UFC wanting to market Bisping. 2 marketable fighters = main event. So I guess those were the ingredients for this UFC cake of a fight night. I'm very curious to see how this fight ends.

To be honest, I really don't get all the Leben hate. Is he the best fighter out there? Obviously not, but the guy always has entertaining fights. People always say Chris is just a brawler but that really isn't true. He prefers to stand and bang, but he actually has some well rounded skills. He knows what the fans like to see, whats wrong with that?

I'm not a big fight of Leben but that being said I have enjoyed watching some of his brawls- his late pull out KO over Terry Martin was pretty sweet.
As to why he gets second chances- he puts on a good fight and Dana loves brawlers who pump the crowd up plus he's a TUF veteran. Dana always favors his boys from TUF.
Leben is like a better Elvis Sinosic- he wins some of his fights but Elvis is the low to low/middle class fighter that will be used to put in against rising stars(Bisping/Griffin) because he'll fight hard and then get beat up.

He was on a sick win streak before running into silva...
If anything Dana is trying to feed him to bisping... which is probably a mistake. Leben by KO rd2

I sure hope so.
I hated Leben after TUF1. However, now that he's starting to fight smarter, I'm liking him more and more. Don't get me wrong, he's not one of my top fighters or anything, but I root for him to win.

People may hate Leben, but you cannot deny that the man knows how to put on exciting fights.
