Since I'm paying to watch these fights it basically boils down to what organization has the better card & who puts on a better show.
In my opinion Pride is just funner to watch. The variety of fighters, the respect they give eachother & how it's geared towards the fans is well worth the money I spend.
With the exception of a few, most UFC main event fights have been predictable & I usually walk away disappointed.
I'm definitely one of those people who think a Pride fighter would stomp the shit out of a UFC fighter. Maybe history would prove that wrong but this is the here & now & I think the more match-ups they do from Pride & UfC this will become a factor you can't ignore no matter what organization you're partial to. I guess we'll just have to wait & see.

Pride is good at marketing as well. They were marketing to an international audience before. The "freaks" that were fighting in their events were put there for the Japanese crowd. Japanese love to see that kind of sh*t. Their favorite sport used to be sumo. I think the Pride organization will continue to get more and more support from the US crowd and will likely gain a lot of viewers at this PPV. If Dana and the UFC are smart they will work out something with the Pride organization. If not we will likely see the UFC organization go out of business. I say that because you can't pay your fighters so poorly, you can't give title shots to people who don't deserve them, and you can't expect this to go on without losing your quality fighters to other organzations that will cater to their needs. Not to mention, the UFC just isn't getting any new talent. And when they do, they pay them more than they pay their loyal fighters. Silva got more to fight Leben than Franklin got to fight Loaiseau. Dana is a jack@ss and hopefully his fighters will go on strike. I know if I was a fighter in the UFC I would be getting a boatload more money. No wonder Tito, Lindland, and others get into it with this bald Dr. Evil wannabe pu$$y

...Slick Fugitive....Bingo. Head on the nail. Dana knows. I'm sure now that Pride is here, it's keeping him up nights..lol. Pride Fighters reign supreme in the MMA world. Come on...does anybody really think Tim Sylvia has a chance against Fedor or CC? Tim will lose the belt to one of them, if Monson gets it first, but I don't see Monson beating big Tim in UFC 65.

Dana has nothing to worry about from Pride. They lost their tv deal and are losing sponsors left and right while the UFC is getting reecord PPV buy's and record ratings and getting bigger and bigger in North America.

The UFC IS MMA in America. If I to the bar where I watch my UFC PPVs and ask everyone if they ever heard of Pride, its fighters or watch it I'll be lucky to get a handful of people out of a hundrad or so that know them.

Prides marketing and production values sucks for the most part compared to the UFC. Not to mention that Prides fighters are unkown to the average fan. The casual fan will also likely be bored to tears by watching a Pride event as it doesn't have the energy level or big show feel of the UFC.

Would anyone in the know mind talking about how deep Pride's pockets are? I have no idea, I just want to know the chances that UFC might buy Pride. There is no way in hell Pride will beat UFC in Amercia unless there is some sort of miracle. Dana White is not popular with fight fans because Dana White is not concerned with the "right now" he is concerned with the future and I think he is playing the business side really really well for the most part. Especially with the fighter pay. He is paying peanuts, we all hate him for it, but how many fans do you know that missed the last PPV on the moral principle that the fighters aren't getting paid enough? The UFC is making insane money right now and when contracts expire in Pride the UFC is going to have the money to throw around. I don't think the UFC's long term business plan is to pay cheap but they sure are playing it smart to do it now while they can use the reserve cash to get the best talent. Example-Anderson Silva. Anyone know when Wandi's contract is up? Fedor? Crocop? Meanwhile, fight contracts in the UFC are getting longer and longer.
And I don't want to break Pride's balls too hard for the production last night because it was its first PPV in America but c'mon. The fights were better then UFC, their Pornstar in the audience....arguably better, but if their idea of entertaining American audiences between fights is ten minutes of strobe light and Dance, Dance techno music over the darkened audience, ....I really appreciate UFCs production and pace on their PPVs. On the other hand it was very refreshing for the fighters not to immediately ***** themselves out to products and websites in their victory speech. If last nights fights happened in UFC and Marc Coleman's two little girls had come into the Octagon crying I bet Dana woulda scowled at them and thrown a Xyience Energy drink in both of their precious little hands. Dana has money to make and he has the right asshole personality to do it and he will.
