I hadn't noticed (but then again haven't been looking too closely) that there was any outward animosity between the 2 organizations. I wouldn't be surprised because they are competing organizations .. too bad because the two of them working together could really push MMA to new heights which would be good overall for the sport ... larger paydays = better athletes coming into the sport who might forgo boxing,,, etc

It's just business. You don't think UFC wants to expand to the rest of the world? Pride coming to the USA is great move for MMA in the US in general.
There is a lot more room to grow the sport here. As fans, we'll only benefits from this growth. MMA needs to replace boxing as the leading fighting sport here in the USA, to do this you need to offer great competitive fighters so Pride will help in this area.

To get back on the topic, I noticed Rampage was at the Pride Real Deal event last night, wish they would have shown his reaction when Wand called out Chuck.

I think that both organizations are looking quite foolish by not letting the fighters fight. I mean people can talk about who would be who, but talking is for pussies fighting is for men.

Thing is ... it seems a lot easier for Pride to expand into the U.S because it seems as though they are far more international - fighters from Brazil, Japan, Canada, U.S, U.K, etc. The UFC is also international but I'm not sure on such a wide basis. I think if the UFC did the same thing in Japan, they'd have to import a ton of their American fighters and that probably wouldn't sit so well with Japanese fans who like home country favourites. UFC does have a HUGE head start in the U.S, but the fans will flock to the excitement and there's no denying guys like Fedor are EXCITING

If the Japenese want to go the route of "home country" favorites it'll be the same dead assed argument of which fighters are the best "UFC" or "PRIDE" fighters. Surely they are more educated then the average american fan and will not make the same mistake so many are making here.

Streetsoldier once said of the Japenese MMA fan "as long as you fight your heart out, they'll always cheer you, win or lose. Fellow posters......THIS is what MMA is about!
