Vera is even more talented on the ground than he is on his feet, so I think he'd be able to defend against Mir's submissions on the ground, and wait until it's stood up by the referee. Vera has the obvious advantage in striking, and could probably knock Mir out, possibly with a head kick. I'd love to see him do the same than he did to Branden Lee Hinkle.

Justin Eilers beat...Mike Kyle. Thats not any more impressive than Mir knocking out Sims. Eilers is nothing very impressive on the resume. Eilers also got destroyed by Buenetello. Assuerio was just sloppy. Mir isn't stupid, he isn't gonna try to stand up with Vera, and when it goes to the ground, Mir's jiu jitsu is gonna overpower Vera's. No way is Frank gonna get submitted. Vera's chance is to catch him standing up, but I just can't see Vera preventing Mir from taking him down.

far Mir 2 to 1 underdog against Vera. ok. Mir is stronger so I see him getting the takedown...if he doesn't he may very well get KO'd. Vera has some vicious kicks & strikes. Mir I think can only win by Submission. If Frank stands up...he's in deep trouble.

P.S. someone said Mir has good striking ability?'s a new one!

I have a feeling this fight could be the beginning of the end for Frank Mir...

The guy is an awesome fighter, has been to hell and back with injury but chances are unless he brings the Frank Mir of old he will get 2nd round KO or TKO strikes.

Anyone have any idea on his fitness so far ???

...Exactly..Wombatsu..Mir's motorcycle accident (Back injury), this could be the beginning of the end for Mir if Vera KO's him.

P.S. oh as far as Mir's conditioning? Mike Goldberg said he saw Mir in the hallway at UFC 62 and he said he looked in really good shape.
