Well we will get the best of both worlds with this event. We will get to see an all out war with Alves vs Sanchez, then we'll witness a complete domination that Silva will give to Cote. I could always be wrong though, mma is sometimes very suprising as we all know.

It would make sense if Silva got over-confident sooner or later, but in every fight in the UFC so far he has seemed totally focused all the time (except perhaps in Franklin 2), so I don't expect him to be any different against Côté.

However, in his last fight against Irvin he didn't take the first half round to feel him out like he usually does with his opponents, and I'm not sure how to interpret that yet... Was he confident because of his previous successes, or was he just determined about the best strategy to use against Irvin right from the start?

Whatever the case though, I expect him to demolish Côté in the first round.

I've been waiting forever for the UFC to come to the Chi. You'd better believe I'm getting tickets for Cote's execution.

Catch-leg counter right hand is beaten into you as a kickboxer. Same reaction Wanderlei used to drop Jardine. I'm always amazed when strikers go against a Muay Thai kickboxer and they don't scout/train against it. Or they are just dumb enough to get get caught for it. Typically you bait your opponent into throwing a leg kick by leaving your leg out just a bit, then when they throw the leg/body kick you fire off with your right hand and try to put their jawbone into their brain stem.

It would be akin to being in top mount and seeing your opponent reaching way up to grab your head/neck. Armbar! It is almost a subconscious reaction after good training.

I really like Cote, but damn. I don't give him much of a chance in this fight. Sure, he looked good against Grove and McFedries, and ok against Almeida, but a lot of guys looked good before they faught Silva. I see this going a lot like Silva vs. Leben (unfortunately).
