Is it me or are fighters getting long layoffs?

It seems to me that we should be having fight cards each month packed with familiar names each month. It would be nice if the UFC would require at least 2, maybe 3, fights a year from a fighter. The UFC should also give us in-depth profiles of each fighter such as if I go to a fighter's profile a month after their last fight, I'd know they were suspended for a broken rib or a cut.

Just a few names that haven't fought in awhile:
Rashad Evans: last fight vs Bisbing on Nov. 17th 2007
-I know he was rumored to fight Ortiz in a rematch and have fought Liddell sooner before Chuck got injured, but its been almost a year since he's fought now. Throw him a can or something for a warm up.
Stephan Bonnar: Hasn't fought since October 2007. 10 months off? Is he even employed with the UFC still? Hard to tell sometimes, as of this post Arlovski is still on their website. You'd think a multi-million dollar organization would be able to employ someone to update their website(s). WEC's site is even worse.

Bonnar was supposed to fight a while ago but he suffered a serious knee injury and has been out ever since.

Well not really relating to layoffs but MMA is at a time where thousands of people are trying to get into the big organizations so you will see tonnes of people come and go. Until MMA can get really huge that's the way it's going to be.

Thousands of people are training for MMA and fighting in lower organizations. A lot are nowhere near ready though.

Completely agree Lurch, I've thought about this before and bothers me as well..

Fun trivia: In danish "kamp" means "match" or "fight". So Martin Kampmann really lives up to his name.

I just noticed that Clay Guida, who has always been an active fighter, has only fought once this year so far. Damn.
