If Palhares beat hendo, he definitely deserves a title shot over everyone but Okami.

I think the idea of Maia vs. Palhares(assuming a win over Hendo) for the #1 contender spot is a little bit of nut huggery for Maia.

Why would a win over Ed Herman and J-Mac warrant a #1 contender fight with a guy that had just beat Prides former MW champion?

Maia's good and I like how he fights, but he needs a high profile win first. Give Maia to Franklin. Then he would be on par to fight a guy that beat Hendo.

The main reason why I suggested Maia vs Palhares was because I want to see that fight, rather than because of the resulting title shot. But still, who in the MW division would be more deserving than Maia, provided that Okami gets the next title shot without having to fight anyone else before that?

Leites beat Marquardt because of Nates numerous fouls, but he didn't look comvincing at all in his first win against a quality opponent. Herman lost to Maia. Almeida and Rivera are both coming off losses. Leben already got destroyed by Silva once.

If Bisping beats Leben it will be a good win, but except for a controversial win over Hamill at another weight class, it will be his first win against anyone who isn't a complete can.

If Kampann beats Marquardt after his impressing win over Rivera, he could be the one to face Palhares, but it's a big IF, especially with the question marks surrounding his knee.

Btw, Franklin isn't even listed as a middleweight at ufc.com anymore, so I guess he'll stay at lhw for a while.

So, if Palhares beats Hendo, and Kampmann loses to Marquardt, I really think Palhares vs Maia for the #1 contender spot (right after Okami) should happen.

If they were to have Maia Palhares for #1 contender the Maia would win. His BJJ is far far better and they are about level everywhere else.

Dude, I am sorry to sound like a dick, but WTF does strength have to do with beating Silva on the ground? Maia is world class and there is no denying that he would be better then Silva on the ground. Good enough to finish him, maybe, maybe not. But I assure you, if it gets there, he would win it on points if nothing else. Just like you don't beat Silva at a muay thai competition, you don't beat Maia in a grappling match.

Even Silva would lose that match if Maia could get it there without getting KO'd first.

Okami should get the next title shot. If he is unable to fight then the shot should go to either Martin Kampman or Thales Leites provided that they each win their next fights. If they were both to win they would have won 5 straight fights which should warrant a title shot.

After Palhares rips Henderson's limbs off, he'll be one step closer to getting the belt. I think Okami should be next, and then Thales if he beats Goran.

Brazillians are(with generally inferior diets, sponsorship and facilities)the best natural fighters in the world.

If any MW can beat Anderson Silva, I suspect that it won't be anyone but another Brazillian.

Palhares is a beast. Silva-Palhares is probably the only Anderson Silva fight in which, personally, I'll be torn about who to root for.

First off Okami doesnt deserve shit. He is one of the most overrated fighters on this forum. All his fights have been lackluster except I guess the J Mac fight. He got beat easily by Franklin and really doesnt have any chance if he gets a shot at Silva. Palhares would have a legitimate shot at beating Silva. He has a powerful bjj game and would be a bad matchup for Anderson. But with that being said, if he beats Hendo he still needs one more win b4 we start talking title shot. Id love to see Palhares/Maia
