I don't see Palhares beating Hendo. So, no. If he does, he will certainly be in contention, but I'd still give it to Okami.

I've got the perfect idea

Contendership:
1. Okami
2. Winner of Hendo/Palhares vs winner of Bisping/Leben for next shot
3. Maia vs loser of either two fights

Hmm, I forgot about Marquardt vs Kappman, maybe 4th but we've also got Thales Leites who beat Marquardt

He got beat easily by Franklin
Did you even watch the fight? Okami had Rich in trouble in the third round. Definitely wasn't an easy win for Franklin.

Also, Okami is being overlooked by many. I think he'd give Silva a tough fight. He's a strong wrestler, who has a good ground game. I think he'd have a better shot at beating Silva than Dan Henderson, because Okami, at least, knows submissions and passes guard. He'd just have to fight like he does in the third in the first.

Although: he is a slow starter and Anderson turns it up after the first feeling out minute of the fight. If not before. Okami better be ready.

I'd have to go with either Demian or Palhares to have a good shot at Silva.

Which is why I said that he'd have to fight like he does in the third in the first.

I want a Palhares vs Almeida fight.

Correct me if I'm wrong because I can't remember but wasn't Okami really dehydrated in the fight with Silva and thats the main reason he looked so bad?

Just like you don't beat Silva at a muay thai competition, you don't beat Maia in a grappling match.

Even Silva would lose that match if Maia could get it there without getting KO'd first.
What i meant by that is I don't believe Maia could make Silva tap.....I think Anderson is stronger then Maia and could outmuscle most of Maia's attempts.

Silva got his black belt in BJJ from Nog, I personally don't even believe Maia has superior BJJ to Silva, and if so not by a whole lot. I think Silva would have subbed Macdonald even faster.

I am sure Ronaldo de Souza and Gabe Gonzaga were much stronger then Maia as well, but that didn't stop them from tapping at Mundials.

2007 ADCC Submission Wrestling World Champion
2007 Super Challenge under-83kgs Champion
2006 Pan American Champion
2005 ADCC Submission Wrestling World Runner-Up
Three-time World Cup champion
Two-time World Champion
Brazilian champion
7x state champion
4x Brazilian team champion

That is a list of his BJJ accomplishments. Maia is for real and the thing about strength is that it doesn't really beat technique in this game, Royce taught everyone that in the beginning and reminded us when Hughes still couldn't make him tap. Maia could make him tap, but the only issue I see is hiim getting it to the ground. His judo and karate trianing would help him there, but Silva's muay thai is as good as Maia's BJJ.
