His rythm is of 3 fight a year, not 4. And he is a champion, unless by injury or TUF, he should defend his title regularly.

More on this, the man fought twice on 2006, 3 times on 2007 and twice again on 2008. That 8 fights in 3 years. 8/3 is less than 3 fights a year, so stop the shit on fighting 4 times a year, he only did that on 2005. The rest of years is 2-3 fights, not that much by any means. Just ask Jeremy Horn.
Jeremy is also completely burned out and nowhere near the fighter he used to be. Personally I don't think TUF should include title holders as both Nog and Rampage got to have lengthly lay offs and BJ has only fought 3 times in that time and only 4 fights in roughly 2 years. Only A. Silva is comparable to matching GSP's amount of fights in the that time frame(both with 5 since last year). BJ gets to do whatever the hell he wants in the UFC- why shouldn't GSP have the same luxury?

Hell GSP could tell Dana that he wants to be the next TUF coach(I hope not) and get his lengthy rest period between fights just like the others got- Nog, 'Page and BJ.

the fact that GSP has the opportunity to fight both Silva and Penn should have him chomping at the bit. No other fighter really has the opportunity to fight two of the best P4P out there. That's what GSP has to gain, being one of the greatest fighters of all time. In a years time he could fight and beat both of them. It's his time to shine, hopefully he doesn't lose focus.

Well, because GSP he's fighting every 3 months, and it's FALSE. He has fought 8 times totallig 2006, 2007 and 2008. Seeing as he isn't going to fight again in 2008, that's hardly every 3 months. 36/8=4.5.

That's fighting 2 or 3 times a year, not 4, not even 3 or 4.

I'm not saying it's too much or too little, it seems to be the standard these days, to fight 2 or 3 times a year and that's it. It's that he said he fights 4 times a year and it's not true. And people here said it's true, it's too much, blah, blah, blah. He's fighting the same as other people, if he wants to take a couple of months on vacation, fine, like the rest of people, he needs them, but if that means half a year out, then 3 months for preparing, well, then don't be a champ if you can't defend your title.

So I guess it only counts if he beats a "new and improved" BJ Penn?

He did 4 in the past year. That's an average of 1 every 3 months.

I don't think anyone's claiming that he's done it his whole career.

Soooo basically that's exactly what BJ is doing to the LW title, huh?
