Good point

Seriously, I won't generalize but some of the BJ fans are ridiculous.. Complaining about GSP not going to defend his title against BJ in december

1- GSP doesnt give much about, he already won against him

2- He has nothing to gain in a rematch, much more to loose

3- He did fight 4 times in the last year and that would make another one at a 4 month interval

4- I approve the point mentionning GSP deserve to choose when he wants to fight.

Some facts not considering the days gap between months :

GSP last 4 fights (1 year period):
9 august 2008 (4 months since last fight)
19 april 2008 (4 months since last fight)
29 december 2007 (4 months since last fight)
25 august 2007 (4 months since last fight)

Penn last 4 fights (1 year 8 months period) :
24 may 2008 (4 months since last fight)
19 january 2008 (7 months since last fight)
23 june 2007 (9 months since last fight)
23 september 2006 (6 months since last fight)

Silva last 4 fights (1 year period):
19 july 2008 (4 months since last fight)
1 march 2008 (5 months since last fight)
20 october 2007 (4 months since last fight)
7 july 2007 (6 month since last fight)

Its pretty obvious that Penn doesnt fight as often as GSP or Silva. Even if the time gap isnt exact it shows.

How do you expect Penn to defend 2 belt with his rythm + Gaining and loosing a full 15 pounds of muscle between each while doing the same rythm as the other 2 champs ?

That's fighting 2 or 3 times a year, not 4, not even 3 or 4.

I'm not saying it's too much or too little, it seems to be the standard these days, to fight 2 or 3 times a year and that's it. It's that he said he fights 4 times a year and it's not true. And people here said it's true, it's too much, blah, blah, blah. He's fighting the same as other people, if he wants to take a couple of months on vacation, fine, like the rest of people, he needs them, but if that means half a year out, then 3 months for preparing, well, then don't be a champ if you can't defend your title.
Look at the level of competition he's been fighting. He deserves a break, especially after a 5 round war with Jon Fitch. And I don't think he needs anyones approval for that.

His rythm is of 3 fight a year, not 4. And he is a champion, unless by injury or TUF, he should defend his title regularly.

More on this, the man fought twice on 2006, 3 times on 2007 and twice again on 2008. That 8 fights in 3 years. 8/3 is less than 3 fights a year, so stop the shit on fighting 4 times a year, he only did that on 2005. The rest of years is 2-3 fights, not that much by any means. Just ask Jeremy Horn.
bro, u have to put ur self in his shoes, everyone needs a break or a vacation, this sport is tons of training and then finally the fight. Gsp has been doing it for a full year staight, and I think he deserves his break to relax.

Fav. Fighters

1. Georges St. Pierre
2. Quinton Jackson
3. Anderson Silva

What GSP said: "I'm tired and need a break so that I can fight BJ at 100%"

What BJ nuthuggers hear: "I'm scared of fighting BJ so I'm ducking him."

I'd probably take some rest and relaxation time as well if I were in his situation. He had his first successful title defense against an opponent who put everything he had into a five round war. After being extremely respectful of his opponent a guy comes running into the cage to challenge him. A guy with back-to-back losses at 170lbs, one of which was by Georges himself.

I thought Georges handled Penn's challenge very well by stating he is always willing to fight a deserving opponent.

The time in the cage after the fight was Georges' time to savor; BJ Penn intruded on that time with his desperate challenge. It was a classless move. Penn completely disrespected George's accomplishment with his own narcissism. Being shown that level of respect by someone who is supposed to be a peer; I would just call it a year.

Yup. The UFC bosses didn't ask BJ to come in the cage after the fight did they? He managed to make his way past security and grab the mic...what a prick.
